Steelers lose to us and cowboys we beat eagles and steelers we clinch wild card. if Ravens lose next 2 to both manniing brothers we could be free rolling for the division. If Ravens win a game we can rest starters week 17

We just need to win out to guarantee a playoff spot.

NOoooooooo.... pay attention, in the scenerio he has listed we just MUST win the next 2; not impossible by any means.
Pitt got CRUSHED by SD today.... and help me out here but what team beat them in San Diego last week? And Stoopers lost to Raiders and I'm trying..... let me see... hmmmm there was a team not long ago that blew out the Raiders. Damn short term memory problems!

We must keep pace with PItts wins until we play them, and at that point CIN VS PITT is a playoff game

I've had a feeling that was gonna happen for sometime. Actually, I have a feeling we go into that game 1 game up on Pitts. No matter what that is a HUGE game! Would there ever beat a better time to be Pitts than that?

If we lose Thursday, we have to beat Pittsburgh, then Pittsburgh has to drop to Cleveland. That's the only two scenarios we can make it: win the next two, or beat Pittsburgh and they then fall to Cleveland. (And that's even if they beat Dallas next week).

before this game I did say earlier in this week we could afford to lose 1 of the next 2 games and still overtake the Steelers if we beat them because fortunately nfc losses dont affect the conference record in tiebreakers of course I never expected San Diego to beat them and thought Pittsburgh would win the next 2 games with Ben back so the Bengals will be 5-5 in the AFC and the Steelers will be 4-6 in the AFC entering that game in Pittsburgh

I agree with this!!!
I dont care about the other possilbilities we just need to win all the remaining games..If we win all then we will for sure be in the playoffs... No matter what we need to win ![]() |

I want to win out, but the OP is 100% correct. If we winthe next two and Steelers lose the next two, we would clinch the second wildcard.
The key is we have to win in Pittsburgh week 16. If not, Steelers would have to lose all 3 and us win 2 of 3. Bottom line, it comes down to going into Pittsburgh and knocking Steelers out (hopefully) and putting us in.

There's still a possibility of losing to Pitt and still making the playoffs.

that wouldnt satisfy anyone, at this point it has to be earned and not given to us and beating them would be more than earning it

We wouldn't clinch with the listed scenario if the Jets win out. They face SD, BUF and TEN. Hmmm....

It is always we need another team to do something for us to get in, it is never, we will get in by doing it ourselves. You want to back into the playoffs again? We have been down this road before or have you forgotten, oh, you will be happy though just to get in I am sure. btw, we are not beating the Steelers and if we do I will be SHOCKED beyond belief. Philly is playing well as of late, we might want to worry about them first.

Just worry about the Eagles game. Nothing else matters.

thats the thing, if we dont win that game and get in, who is gonna expect us to win a game when we get there? personally I would like to see that hurdle cleared and the playoffs would be the reward for it

Not quite. We lose tiebreaker of conference record if we win against PHI and PIT but not BAL. We will win tiebreaker if we lose to PHI but beat PIT and BAL.
Either way, I just want us to win out so there is no nonsense. I'm pretty sure nobody would be complaining if we got in with help from other teams if it did happen. I for one am just happy getting in the tournament.

well if they can win a big road game in a big time game like that, it would validate their spot in the postseason and convince some people they can do it in the playoffs as they'll have to on the road

Re: Good news Bengal fans we can clinch a playoff spot after week 16
If we lose thursday we dont belong in the playoffs do we?

Yeah, a loss thursday night would answer the question for us, I guess. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
