Jets will beat Bengals at 9-7 if they win out as they would have a 7-5 conference record.
If we beat Philly and lose to either Steelers or Balt our conference record is 6-6. If we beat Philly and Steelers lose to Dallas, Steelers are out if we beat them in Pittsburgh. I think Steelers will lose in Dallas. If Jets lose one of their last three and we win two, they are out. There is a possibility of Jets and Bengals finishing 9-7 and both teams having a conferene record of 6-6. I have no idea what would happen there. Strength of schedule? Truly, I think the odds favor the Bengals over the Jets and Steelers but beating the Steelers is the key game. It is a shame that we gave away the game yesterday. |

The Jets will lose a game, they aren't winning out...Jets to go 8-8 or worse.
It will come down to the Bengals at Steelers game. but first, lets beat Philly and Dallas beat Steelers. ...That way, if we beat Steelers, we are in, regardless of Ravens game.

I don't see the Jets getting to 9-7. They just don't have the QB play for it.

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps. Two Clubs Head-to-head, if applicable. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. Strength of victory. Strength of schedule. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. Best net points in conference games. Best net points in all games. Best net touchdowns in all games. Coin toss. Jets have the Chargers Bills and Titans left. I feel pretty confident about the Chargers beating them Titans and Bills who knows. Lets just win out so its not even up for discussion

Look, The Jets will lose at Tennessee and won't finish any better than 8-8, or worse. Houston and Indy are good, but Tennessee plays teams tough and will beat Jets in Tennessee.
It will come down to Cincy at Pittsburg......and if we lose 4 games to Pittsburg over the last two years, then they deserve it more. ....If we beat Pittsburg, I think we are in, especially if Dallas beats Steelers in Dallas. So with Philly and Pittsburg up now, It's time to march through Pennsylvania. I hope we do better than Robert E Lee did. Pennsylvania Polka Time....GO BENGALS !!!!

History tells me Steelers will beat us and win the spot.....but I'm a die hard Bengals fan and I'ld like to see us get after it and beat them.

They came into our game hot. Bengals had won 4 in a row of course, but I read Cowboys had won 3 of the last 4 or something like that. They just added to it. Cowboys are getting hot and themselves in the play-off hunt...I don't like Dallas, but since they beat us, they might as well beat Pittsburg the next week as well.

If we won our next two games but lost to Baltimore would we be in?
Lets say Steelers do beat Cowboys but lose to us and win their last game. |

The colts need to lose out in that scenario. steelers would have better dicision record. jets would need to lose at least 1 also preferrably to chargers. were 2 games behind colts in strength of victory. we would be roughly 45 percent to overtake them by end of season.

Since we HAVE to beat Steelers to get in, I hope it's for all the marbles....we are in when we walk off the field in Pittsburg.

Don't look now but the Browns are right back in the picture. If the Browns win out and the Bengals finish 1-2, then the Browns would hold all tie breakers over Pitt, cincy, and NY.

The Bengals own all wildcard tiebreakers at 9-7 (over Pitt/Jets/Indy) if they get there by losing to Philly and beating both Pitt and Balt. On the flip, they lose all tiebreakers at 9-7 against the same teams if they get there by beating Philly, beating Pitts and losing to Balt.
Having said that, the Philly game is not as important as everyone is making it out to be. Even if they lose Thursday night, they still control their own fate and can make the playoffs with 2 wins to end the season with Pitt and Balt, regardless what any of the other teams do. If they win Thursday night, they would still need to win their last 2 games to control their own destiny. A win against Philly, a win against Pitt and a loss to Baltimore would mean they would need help - needing BOTH an additional loss by Pitt (Dal or Cle), AND one Jets loss to clinch a spot. If the Bengals beat Philly and both Pitt and NYJ lose Sunday, the Bengals could clinch the wildcard with a win at Pitt week 16. |

Jets won't finish above 8-8 or worse...and Browns don't have a chance at all. ...It will be Steelers or Bengals. Indy pretty much locked up their spot.

All of those "if this happens" and "if they lose" scenarios don't matter.
We should have beat the Cowboys, but we just need to win out and we're in, regardless of what any other team does. We're in control of our own destiny and we need to start handling our business.

At this point, I'm glad we have to "earn" our way into the playoffs. In 05' we lost our last two games before our playoff loss, 09' we finished losing 3 of 4, and in 11' we finished losing 5 of our last 8.
We have to WIN games late in the season to EARN our way into the playoffs!

Jets will lose at Tennessee...because Jets aren't very good either, they are under .500

The New York Jets blow. Seriously. How many 3rd string QB's can you fit on a single roster? They're testing the limits.
Each time they win a game, it surprises me.

It's depressing to know we've only won one more game than that team.
