imho why we didnt get pressure on broncos is because they have most physycal offensive line in football. pats oline while decent is certainly a better matchup

Bills strategy against the pats unless score get out of hand. They run alot of 2 deep shells. Whcih forces them to run or settle for short underneath routes. Its usually effective for about 3 quarters. The score usually dictates in the 4th to go out of it to a certain extent that when they tend to get shellacked with big plays in the 4th. I figure we could do better than bills because of better personnel upfront

I sometmies think Brady is cheating again, I just don't get it. Another 4 TDs against a top tier D. I think most of his are dink and dunk to midgets for YAC though, there's no randy moss on their team anymore.
Considering that, he still has like only 4 ints and a massive amount of TDs. IMO the top tier QBs in the league finish the season with less than double digit ints. Think of all the nonsense of how a pick can occur. Brady had 50 TDs and 8 ints one year. Yeah, Andy and our team is good at "brushing off" ints, but maybe it's not in their head how terrible a turnover is (especially with how low scoring our games are). We're not Tom Brady who can put up 40 without blinking, and overcome turnovers easily.

Our CBs are terrible at press coverage.

Explain to me how we matchup better than anyone in the AFC when we can't cover a TE..... AND New England has the best one in the game and another one that is a top flight receiving threat as well. Sorry, not buying this one at all. |

Well, when I saw that someone had bumped this thread, I was expecting some sort of wisdom to go with it... But, on that note, I don't feel that Tom Brady can take the same punishment as Ben does. So, if the DL gets to TB the same way that they got to BR, it could possibly work out in the Bengals favor. Offensively, a pump fake and then delayed hand off would likely work 2 or 3 times against the Patriots defense, just don't do it twice in the same Qtr.

As I said in another thread, Tom gets rattled when he gets hit. It not just rattles him but it is almost like it absolutely offends him. The thing is that he will not hold it as long as Ben does so we will have to get to him quicker. If we can, I think we win this game due to pass rush alone.

We do better with pocket passers and worse with scramblers like Ben and Romo

2 of the best TEs in the league. On the same team. Against one of the worst teams covering TEs - makes sense!

Why do u guys all think we struggle against TEs so much. If you ask me we have done a pretty good job containing some pretty big name guys including Witten and miller in consecutive weeks

I think we have the best defense we have had in quite a while. I would not bet on us betting the Pats but I don't think it is a definite loss either. When a D plays like ours anything can happen. Our special teams is actually special too...

Knowing you will get a lot of 2-TE sets my matchup would be:
MJ vs Gronkowski | MJ has the strength to match up well on running plays and the size/speed combination that would make it difficult for Brady to hit his favorite target. It wouldn't be easy to drop it over MJ with his size & long spanning arms. Leon vs Hernandez | Both men are technicians but I feel Leon is a bit more polished. Pacman vs Welker/Edelman | Pacman has the ability to change direction with the best of them. A must-have quality to cover these two. Newman vs Branch | A couple of vets going head-to-head. This should be a pretty good matchup. Burfict vs Woodhead | Burfict can sniff out screens with the best of them and has a nose for the ball when covering backs... Not to mention the tenacity to lay a good hit on a running play. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure MJ on Gronkowski would be a good matchup. Sure, MJ's wing span and height could be a factor but Gronk is quick and runs great routes and I'm not so sure MJ could cover him that well let alone keep up down the seam if need be. I would love to see him drop back occasionally to shadow Gronk/Hernandez but for the most part he needs to have his hand in the ground ready to blast off the line put Brady on his back so Mallett can come in and screw the game up.
Lamur could matchup nicely with Gronk and Hernandez. Leon vs Lloyd Newman vs Welker/Edleman Pacman vs Branch/Woodhead Burfict vs Ridley/Woodhead/Vereen/Bolden |

I think playing man would be suicide. I really don't love any of the matchups you listed MJ can't cover Gronk, Burfict doesn't have the speed to matchup with Woodhead, Leon and Newman could hold their own against any of them. Pacman is solid but I dont really want to see him without help over the top.All and all the key to shutting down their air attack will be the pass rush, it has to get to Brady.

Well we know corners haven't had much success covering the guy. I think with a safety over the top and MJ playing underneath this would be a favorable matchup.
