No love for Herron?

If other teams don't adjust he will get a blocked punt.

He must be using the same moves our last punt blocker (DeDe Dorsey) did. What is it about back up RBs that makes them good punt rushers?

Give Simmons some credit. Maybe he coaches a certain technique from the spot. Although you are right it seems only our backup rb's excel in it. A block punt would have been huge...

It looked like on the second one he was getting chewed out on the sideline. Maybe he was or maybe he wasn't, but they seemed a little unhappy. Maybe he was actually supposed to fall back to help the return.

I didn't see that, but it is more likely that he did not maintain his contain duties to avoid a fake.

It's because they are used to shooting through the holes in the line. They make moves and juke people in the smallest of spaces as their job, so it is second nature for them to shoot the gap as they see it. And most running backs are quick even if it is not a scat back type of HB. I actually think it is smart to have a back doing the punt block job. Here's hopin for two blocks instead of tips today. Maybe he will even get a couple carries on offense. Let's see what Boom can do.

Why are backup RBs good on punt blocks? Fresh legs, and an eagerness to do something impressive to get noticed.

Both times he did and outside in move and put an ankle breaker on the blocker.
I think Rb's have the initial burst and change of direction

I know he is hated but man is that guy quick. He is definately a change if pace back, I'm hoping he steals carries from Leonard. Maybe I'm used to seeing BJGE run because he looked like CJ2k in comparison. Discuss and enjoy.

I wouldnt call him CJ2K lol but he looked very flashy which is good. And hes been an asset on special teams for the second straight week. Definitely would love to see him get more meaningful touches throughout a game

Boom has been outstanding on ST in both games.

The first carry tonight showed he has more wiggle than BJGE has ever had. The DT had him dead to rights three yards in the backfield and Boom made him look bad, and gained 5 yards.

Give this kid a chance, and he will produce.

If he had even 10 carries with the #1 O line, half the haters would start yelling Boom!

Boom also hit the hole quicker than any RB we have had in there tonight.

The dude has been an absolute monster on ST and his presence was felt immediately the first game he was activated. Wasn't very impressed with him coming out of college but he seems to have flipped on a switch since he's been brought up to the next level. Would love to see a Law Firm & Boom tandem eat up opposing defenses. Hope ML and Co. have liked what they have seen from last week and tonight.

I am sorry for wanting Daniel "Boom" Herron cut. I admit, I'm not a huge fan of "the" ohio state university.

Dan "BOOM" Herron was INCREDIBLE on special teams, and a KEY to this VICTORY.

The guy did well with his practice squad assignment. I'm not convinced he's a gamer in the backfield yet (he did do well with limited snaps), but he's showing his place on STs, and that's a great start!

Like I said in a previous thread I think,it is silly to hate on a player due to what college team he played for he is now a Bengal and we should want him to help the team, especially before he gets an opportunity to get a chance to show what he can do. I am a Buckeye fan but am also a Leon Hall fan.

That being said it will be interesting to see what they do when Peerman is healty again. Peerman's role has been increasing and he has looked pretty good, I don't see that changing when he is healthy again. The coaches seem to love Leonard as a third down back as well. Obviously BJGE has showed his worth and is not going anywhere. But how can you not have Herron on the active roster after blocking two and what should have been three punts in two games? Maybe they can go with 4 RBs since three can play significant roles on special teams, but that seems pretty heavy on the RB position.

And that was with a make shift line boling got pulled they moved zeitler to left guard cook at right guard. Though those two are good haven't seen penetration like that in a while.

You would be surprised how many teams go 4 rb. I think it's just goes against Marvin's philosophy for active roster and positions.
