Default Game Day Mock

1. Kenny Vaccaro S 6'0" 218 Texas - the D did better when Crocker came back. It is not because of his play (which has been OK) but his ability to command the back of the D. We need a smart player, who is not only capable of making plays, but can lead the team and get them in the correct adjustments. This position is a great need.

2a. Ezekiel Ansah DE 6'5" 270 Brigham Young - this is not a replacement for MJ, but one for Geathers. We need more consistent play in our rotation. We have a little bit too much all or nothing from our line, Ansah should fix this problem (same with Montgomery or Okafor if they are around). The maturation of stills + a DE stud makes the d-line the best in the league. He is also a freak athlete who played LB as well. Right up Marvin's alley.

2b. Khaseem Greene OLB 6'0" 239 Rutgers - I must be channeling my inner Al Davis today, because this is the third player in a row who is a rare athlete for the postition which should further reinforce the swarming D mentality.

3. Stepfan Taylor RB 5'11" 215 Stanford - RB is probably the single greatest need in this off-season. Unfortunately, it is not a great year for the position. This pick and the next one are somewhat interchangeable based on how they grade out as we get closer to the draft. There are 3 clones that should be good for all 3 downs (Lacy, Ball and Taylor). The reality is anyone of them would work.

4. Kenjon Barner RB 5'11" 192 Oregon - we desperately need a burner, and Barner has great size to go with it. I have him here based on where he has been ranking, but I am sure about 5 of you will let me know that he will not be here then. See the note above. He can also handle KR duty.

5. Robert Alford CB 5'11" 184 Southeastern Louisiana - how many of you are saying 'who the **** is Robert Alford?' He is THE FCS shut-down CB and major burner to boot. He was invited to the Senior Bowl, so we should get a good look at him vs. some better competition. We are aging at DB and need some fresh blood.

6a. Michael Williams TE 6'6" 270 Alabama - here is a novel idea, how about a blocking TE that has .5 a chance in hell of catching a pass. Roland upgrade.

6b. Quincy McDuffie WR 5'10" 175 Central Florida - KR specialist who is averaging over 34 yards / return. I had K here for a minute, but changed my mind. I really don't care fore Tate.

I like it except for the back-to-back RB selections. Id rather grab Barner then Taylor, mainly because Barner is the scat back / speed back that we need to pair with BJGE. Maybe grab a higher WR, or LB or CB with the Taylor pick. Good mock overall though

I like all of those guys on some level, I just don't think Vaccaro is a first round pick.

It hits all the positions of need. My only gripe is, aside from Safety, none of those guys are near the top choices for their positions. I think we could use 2 RBs, and it's a good combo.

Same thing with Greene. Good pick, just not my fave. I think with a slightly different alignment, we could still get the best at every position, like DE/OLB in 1st, top RB 2nd, top S 2nd, more depth from there.

Know what I mean? Ah well. I really couldn't complain if this is how it went down on draft day, nothing is ever perfect. Good stuff!

Not a bad draft. I think that safety is too deep to use our first round pick on it. Rather go for the top LB or DE available at that time. Also like drafting Barner before Taylor. IMO Herron can do everything that Taylor can do. We just need someone to back up BJGE and a COP back in Barner

Like it a lot! I do disagree on RB being our biggest need though. I think we need to add a speed back to split carries, but BJGE has been showing up in a big way lately and will likely be in line for a lot of touches next year.

Still a grea draft:

1. Love the Vaccaro pick. They're saying that this could be one of the best S classes ever, why not take the top guy? He fills a need and gives us a playmaker in the backend. Hall and Kirk at CB with Nelson and Vaccaro at S could be a very, very solid starting group in a year or two.

2. Love the pick again. If he blows up the combine like they are projecting then getting him in 2 isn't likely, but DE is deep and a solid talent could slip. I would love to see MJ retained as a starter and a guy like Ansah groomed as the 3rd DE.

2. I'm not overly sold on Greene fitting into our D. He's definitely undersized for what Zimmer likes, but there is a chance that Zimmer won't even be around. I do like the pick assuming we would be grooming him behind a resigned Thomas Howard. That said, I'm not a "Burfict for MLB '13" guy. I think we would be smart to retain Rey as the starter in the middle, keep Burfict on the outside and bring Howard back as the other OLB; Burfict shouldn't have any issues transitioning from Will to Sam. Maualuga has stepped up and proven himself over the seasons 2nd half and is showing shades of the guy I thought we were getting. Lengthy response, but I don't hate the pick by any means; Greene might be able to help out with covering athletic TEs which is always a struggle for us.

3. Solid pick on Taylor. He is definitely more of an everydown back and I would prefer a scat back playmaker type; but adding him in 3 would be a good move.

4. Wouldn't mind this pick. It would make things interesting at RB though. BJGE will retain the starting spot, so back to back RBs would likely mean the end for Scott and either Leonard or Peerman; most likely Peerman since Leonard is a very solid 3rd down back and gives you more on O.

5. If we retain Jones and Newman then CB isn't really a need, but you can never have too many developmental cover guys on the PS. I expect Ghee to make the roster if he can stay healthy next season; but I don't expect too much out of Prater.

6. Love this one. Williams is a big time blocker and would round out a pretty impressive group of TEs.

6. I'm thinking it might definitely be time to move on at returner from Tate. Too many bone head plays that put the teams in bad spots; don't get me wrong, I love the confidence it takes to field a punt at the 1, but unless you're Devin Hester you can't do it (hell, even Hester wouldn't do that). Solid pick.

There is way too many good young LB's in this draft to just stick with the starters we have from this year and then bring a guy back coming off ACL on the other side of 30 and start them. This is a good chance to upgrade our LB's and our defense as a whole.Maualuga is average at best. Burfict will continue to get better. We need 2 LB's from this draft and they both need to be good in coverage we lack that in what we have now(Lamur is decent). It would be nice if one of them can pass rush as well. We've had some injuries at CB and some can't stay healthy so drafting at least 1 CB is a good idea.

I think if our gameplan is to draft safety in the first, we should trade back and gain a pick, safety is deep to allow us this option
