yep it should be mandatory if you own a firearm to have it locked either by safe, or atleast by lock and key...don't know how it could be enforced, but make it a law that if someone gets their hands on your firearm, then the offense falls on the gun owner as well..

unless the gun owner can prove forced entry into the locked "gun safe"

So you take the ramblings about owning a gun by one person and you lump all people that owns guns into that group? I own a shotgun that I haven't shot in years and been planning on buying a pistol mainly for home protection. I know people that own guns because they fear the government, I know people that own them just for home protection, I know people that own them because they enjoy the sport of shooting, I know people that own them because they like hunting and some like Rugby because it's a tool. We went looking at guns yesterday. 3 different stores said they had spoke to people all day getting a first time gun due to the events in the week. Thought that was interesting.

I have stated my thoughts on guns. People should have them. Less crime is a good thing. Look up kenesaw, Georgia. Guns deter crime.

Wasn't one of them a 9mm? That's an incredibly basic gun and not even one k would use got home defense. Banning 9 mm would be just silly

I am a firm believer in the 2nd amendment, however it does need to be updated. Weapons, such as AR-15's, Uzi's and other types of these weapons need to be illegal to own. They serve no purpose as far as hunting is concerned.

9mm isn't the best for anything, really. But I was talking about the design of the weapons themselves. Every weapon used Friday was created for military/LE use. They are designed for killing humans, nothing else.

I'm curious why you wouldn't want a gun available for home defense that can kill someone? I disagree that a 9mm is just for killing humans. However, if that was its only purpose what's the problem. It protects the family.

The key word to me in home defense is defense. Weapons like assault rifles and pistols designed for military and LE use are more offensive than defensive. Think of the word assault. I know my views on where these lines are seem to be ambiguous. It makes sense to me, just hard to convey in a way that makes sense to others.

Good for you for acknowledging that.

People with uncontrollable or even pent up "snap" anger should not own firearms.

The potential could be disastrous.

I almost made a mistake when I was a teenager. My girlfriend at the time really screwed me over. Thank God I came to my senses(with my Bro's semi-automatic in hand).

If 911 dialing was available back when I was young I'm sure I would have been arrested.

After that incident I have distanced myself from guns.

Unfortunately there are so many people who don't realize what I did that day.
