The OC stunk, and everybody knows that.
The defense in 2010 wasn't as good as it is now or in 2011.
Benson had his worst season as a Bengal in 2010.

The whole team was crap, not just Carson. Also, a one-year-wonder implies that he stunk every year except 2005, which is not the case at all. He had one bad season, his last as a Bengal. Other than that he's been an average QB at worst.
He had one elite season, and that's what his defenders saw as his true potential. 2005 was a fluke. Carson threw 32 touchdowns because he constantly got short fields thanks to a defense that led the league in turnovers.

2010 was definitely not his only poor season. Other than the Bears game, Carson had a terrible season in 2009 that was covered up by a great run game and defense. He was well on his way in 2008 before the elbow injury. He had mostly solid numbers in 2007, but threw 20 picks (Dalton has been better than 07 Palmer this year), and finally, 2004 was a very bad season for Carson, even though Carson apologists like to pretend '05 was his rookie year.

Interesting viewpoint. I do remember that KC Joyner - the "Football Scientist" - wrote a rather negative evaluation of Carson that season saying that his decision-making was very poor and that he'd gotten away with a lot of poor throws with receivers bailing him out or DBs dropping potential INTs. I thought the guy was mad at the time, but maybe he was just onto something a lot earlier than most of the rest of us.

For one whole series...
This is a lost season for them, so better figure out what Pryor can do, which was nothing.

2004 was his first season playing, so you can't really give him too much crap. He had a few good games that season anyway.

You really can't know what 2008 would have turned out like. So speculating is all that can be done there. Besides that, even elite guys would have played bad behind that awful line, bad defense and no ground game.

2009 may not have been good statistically, but he won games, and had a few 4th quarter drives to seal games. Plus, he was a big part in sweeping the division for the first time in forever. Also, Laverneous Coles.

He's not elite, but he's not a flash in the pan either. Palmer benefits the Raiders WAY more than he hurts them, and it was the same for the Bengals. There were a lot of changes after 2010, so there's no way anyone could say Palmer was the reason for the losses, just like people can't really say Dalton is the reason for the turnaround.

08 thru 10, he did what he could with garbage at WR. 09 was the only year the team was good cuz that was the only year the defense played well. Palmer would have done well this team the last two years as the defense has been good and AJ has upgraded the receiver position tremendously. Also, Gruden is way better than Brat. Palmer hasn't played for a good OC yet.

Also a defensive HC in Cincy and now in Oakland. Brat and now Knapp are both washed up retreads. DC's see right through those guys.

They never give up, regardless how silly they look.

To me, you and others who subscribe to the "coaching and supporting cast don't matter" school of thought are who looks silly. My position on it has been proven out time and again over the years.

One year wonders don't throw for 30K career yards also.
