I just had an awful thought after watching that tragic comedy that was Monday Night Football. If Rex Ryan is fired, will the Jets try and take Zimmer from the Bengals to be their head coach?

Is a broken clock right twice a day?

I wonder what Zimmer's relationship status is with Jerry Jones now...Garrett may be canned as well.

If you're talking about a digital clock then no, it's not.
I feel better now. |

I don't know about the Jets but if Zimmer hasn't had any sort of guarantee to replace Marvin at the end of his current contract, I don't see how he stays here. Even if he has, 2015 is a long time to wait... unfortunately I don't see Zimmer here past next season if he's even here next season.

Zimmer might be able to dictate his contract if a bidding war starts for him.

This could be the year Chuckie and Cowher return to the league.
Cowboys, Jets and Eagles are all high profile gigs.

Jets take Zimmer, we take Ryan as defensive coordinator.

I was thinking Chuckie to Philly.
Cowher to Dallas Zimmer to Jets...they've plundered our coordinators before.

You think so? I just don't see them coming back ever. At least not Cowher. Who knows, though... they get offered every job every year before anyone else does I'm sure.

I don't know but it's kind of an interesting juxtaposition... he's had what 2 losing years in a decade and is gonna get axed? Anyway... I don't know... I'll just guess... Chargers??

I'm not sure that Zimmer wants to leave anymore. Who knows? It's a business. I just wish there was more loyalty.

What about the Raiders? I know their HC is still in his first season, but you never know.

not to bash you bro, but loyalty doesnt exist from the owners.. sometimes i completely understand why players and coaches show no loyalty as well... if zim didnt cut it for 2 years straight he'd be out the door at the majority of nfl franchises, just like if a player gets injured or isnt producing anymore. from the fans perspective we all want guys loyal to our team and if zim stays i'd love it, but i respect what he's done and i think he deserves a hc shot whether it be with us or elsewhere (just not the stoolers/STEALers)...

For Zim's sake I hope he gets the chance to coach, but selfishly I hope not...I think he would be a terrific coach....He has earned the right to do so

Zimmer will remain a Bengal.
They would target any of the other top 10 DC's in the league if that were their desire. Why would they target a lesser defensive mind for the HC position? The "scare" of Zimmer leaving never makes sense to me.

The reason Zimmer isn't a head coach has nothing to do with his coaching abilities. It's his personality. He's brutally honest and speaks his mind. A lot of owners don't want to deal with that.
As a DC he isn't really in front of the media. As a HC he would be in front of them all the time. |

i personally think the jets will want to find someone more offensively minded.

I support Andy Dalton 100 percent. Some fans expect too much too soon or from too little. Dalton is not the problem. Sometimes I think the only reason people gripe about him is because they have nothing better to do or simply like to read the word of their own writing, similar to when people complaining just to hear the sound of their own voice. If the world has no faith in me, Then I have no faith in it. Prosperity should not be shared with those who did not earn it. |

I like Zim. But, he's interviewed for HC slots at the end of the last two seasons, with multiple teams. He's not been offered a HC position. Does he deserve a shot? I dunno. Some say he does. I think his biggest knock is, as he puts it, his "frankness". I think most owners would view that with some reservation. No owner likes someone being "frank" about how bad his team has been run....or the mistakes that have been made. If there's ever been an owner who would hang on to a coach way past their expiration date, it's Mike Brown. He's loyal to a fault to those who are loyal to him. Now Zimmer's problem is, any open slots that he might be qualified for are always going to be tainted by the fact that any GM or owner is now going to wonder why other teams rejected Zimmer. I hope he does get a HC position. I think it's going to be much harder for him to do so now than perhaps it was 2 years ago, however. Jay Gruden will get a shot before Zim does, me thinks.
