Default as a fan, if you want Geno resigned then...

start buying up his Jerseys. That sends a message to Mike Brown.

If Brown doesn't already realize that Geno needs to retire as a bengal, he won't realize it by people buying his jersey.

He will never sell as many as Andy or AJ. That's just how the system works. However, I think you see plenty of 97's when you go to a game.

That being said I don't think a small spike in jersey sales will make that much of a difference. Mikey will throw him the biggest offer he has ever thrown a defensive player. Zim was ticked enough when JJoe left, I can't imagine his reaction if we lose Geno too.

your plan doesn't necessarily work this way

RG3 just set the record for jersey sales in a calandar year with 3 months to go (nfl calendar year for sales starts in april) yet he's still on his rookie contract

I get what you're saying....

If the guy sells jerseys it means he has fans. Fans buy tickets.

This is dumb, numbers speak for itself, and I'm not talking about Jersey selling numbers, talking about on the field numbers. Mike Brown knows or should know. I don't care if somehow AJ sold 1 jersey this year, he's still the best WR.

Mike Vick is probably the biggest selling Philly Jersey, think they keep him?

On this team, definitely, but he still isn't better than Calvin. Regardless, you're correct.

If the Bengals don't resign Geno, I would give serious thought to finding a new team. There is no excuse not to keep Geno and AJ. Those 2 are the faces of the franchise.

I feel like J Jo would still be a Bengals if that were the case.

Mikey would make money even if no one went to a game, there is so much TV money paid.

When the madden 14 cover vote rolls around we need to start a massive movement pushing for geno :)

I have told my friends that if, for whatever reason, A.J. or Geno get let go to free agency, I would officially remove my Bengals fan status until the day Mike Brown no longer existed.

The fact that we are having this conversation before the biggest game of the season is sad.

You guys know I rip Mike Brown all the time, so this is not meant to defend him. It is just a comment on the life of hard core Bengal fans.

Buying jerseys isn't going to do it. It's common sense we are going to resign him to a MAX deal. But if you really want him to sign him and everyone else, how about everyone buy tickets to watch the game.

I am waiting to see if they extend him before I buy his jersey. Don't want to put it in the drawer with the Palmer and Shipley(I still hold hope he returns someday and it makes it back to the closet).

If it takes fans buying jerseys to *make* an owner resign the best player on their team, then something would be severely wrong with the NFL. Kind of a stupid thread.

The National Football League is the icon for the free enterprise system. The Cincinnati Bengals hold the option on Geno Atkins for one more season. I would encourage the seeking of free agency on Atkins' part.
This would lead to the obligatory "franchising" and the situation that plagued "Bustin'" Smith.

The offer to keep Atkins' would have to be sunstantial - Top 5 - he has played at that level. Would the front office of Cincinnati Bengals agree?
