Is there something I am missing here?

Why is it that TATE continues to get the nod over Jones?

Jones is playing well at CB. Thats the only reason i could see why he isnt returning every kick

Jones usually only returns when the defense goes 3 and out so he's fresh and not tired.

Which Jones? When I read the title I assumed you meant over Marvin at WR; however, it appears other thought you meant over Adam at KR.

I'd take Adam at PR, and Hawkins at KR.. I think Hawkins needs more touches regardless of how they're created, and also there's less pressure catching a KR than a PR, if inexperience is a cause of concern. That way you're also not asking Adam to do both and defense.

That seems to be the trend.

However are these guys pro athletes or not? Some of the best well conditioned athletes in the world. Keeping him fresh and not tired is a joke IMO. Jones is the nickel corner, for pete's sake, play 3rd down return a punt and go sit down on the bench to rest.

I could see the point that they don't want him to get hurt but he is a threat to take one every time.

I don't know how as a pro coach you can continue to have Tate in there making bad choices really is there no one else that can return KO's?

D, I don't think it's so much an issue of conditioning for Adam, I think it's more like they're trying to limit how many hits he takes.. guy's been a bit fragile in his time in Cincinnati after all.

Yeah when Tate fielded that punt at the 1 yard line I wanted to rip out my chest hair and punch a baby. I also went back and watched what happened with the last kick return that was botched on the 3yrd line. Tate pushed Charles into the ball. Charles was going to catch it and run. I would have liked to of seen that Haha, dudes got some talent but not sure if he's got the wiggle it takes to return kicks. Regardless, Tate needs to be replaced...

That's sort of what I'm guessing too.

I remember hearing him say that he was a RB, and in college they asked him to switch CB to get him on the field. He just needs to take every punt for a TD then he won't get hit .

It is amazing he is one of those guys that has quickness/sudeness/vision that you are born with.

The best part, he seems to have turned his life around.

Of course, why didn't anyone think of this sooner? It's so simple! Anyway, I actually stumbled upon this while looking for Adam's punt return stats for the season.

It was written December 7th, but the point more or less remains.. I like this little tidbit of knowledge:

Jones: 18 attempts, 0 fair catches, 275 yards, 15.3 yards per return, 1 touchdown
Tate: 19 attempts, 6 fair catches, 170 yards, 8.9 yards per return, 0 touchdowns

I honestly think they are just trying to keep him healthy. When Adam Jones runs...he runs like a man possessed. He isn't afraid of taking a beating. I think the coaches know that and know they need him at CB. Now Hawkins should be back there more than Tate. I myself am not a big Tate fan.

Tate is by far my least favorite player on the team! If he returns another KR/PR this year it will be a mistake.

Pacman should be returning all punts, and I would let Marvin Jones KR! If I remember correctly from the draft that was one of his skill sets. I say give him a try, can't be any worse!

We tried that and he didnt survive 1 play before getting hurt.

Tate is still our best option at KR and will remain there

Im hoping we use his speed on offense on a reverse or Screen.

That's a strong statement in bold print and while I understand your feelings because, let's admit it, Brandon Tate brain farts a lot when returning kicks and punts. Not even someone with the talent of a Joshua Cribbs or Devin Hester would get away with such poor mental decisions Brandon consistently makes. If you want to go back into NFL history and look at the best punt returner of all time, I would get some film on the great Gale Sayers of da Bears and just watch him because while he is remembered more for his physical ability, his strength was his mind. I've never seen anyone return punts like he did.

Tate is the slowest fast person on the field. I'm ok with him on KOs as long as when he is standing at the back of the endzone he doesn't bring it out, or run into another player trying to field it.

You have to question the value of a player who has one job, 4 fumbles, one rush zero yards, and zero catches on in the last three. It would be different if he had taken 2-3 back for TD's this year.

How does this guy not step up and take the number 2 job from a bunch of rookies and CFA's? At least he can run a fast 40!

Jones has played really well at CB though, he has suprised me with how well of a tackler he his.

I dont know whats the issue with him at the WR spot...

but that one play bounced of the dude in front of hims leg and landed on the one. He picked it up and got it to the 20 at least... (wasnt Tates fault on that one)

The punt he fielded on the 1 yeah that was bad. Follows a good play with a bad one. But hes had some nice PRs when not near his goal line. i always though Peerman would be good on kickoffs.
