Default And the winner for most dropped passes in the AFCN is....

Guess who leads the AFC North in drops?
Dec 19, 2012 1:45 PM
By Jamison Hensley

If you asked me who leads the AFC North in dropped passes, my three guesses would've been: Mike Wallace, Mike Wallace and Mike Wallace. Well, I was wrong.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green tops the division in that category. This shocked me because Green has such great hands. Everyone remembers Green's drop in the red zone against Dallas, but I can't recall many more than that one. Last season, Green had three drops on 112 targets. This year, he has seven drops on 138 targets.

Wallace is close behind Green with six dropped passes. That's tied for the second-most in the AFC North with Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham and Browns wide receiver Greg Little. Saints tight end Jimmy Graham leads the NFL with 11 dropped passes.

In terms of teams, the Browns lead the division with 26 drops, which is tied for eighth-most in the league. The Steelers and Bengals have a total of 22 drops. The Ravens have the least amount of dropped passes with 19. Wide receiver Torrey Smith has the most drops for Baltimore with four.

I guess Flaccoverde's problems can't be blamed on his receivers?

"He also leads the AFC N in passes thrown his way with 144. Wallace is a distant second with 114. When you have tons of balls thrown your way your drop numbers are going to be higher than people who rarely see the ball. Dropping approximately 1 out of every 20 balls thrown to you does not qualify as a huge problem IMO. It could be better, obviously, but this is nothing to be freaking out about (7 is less than the number of drops by Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker, for comparison, and tied with Julio Jones, Eric Decker and Reggie Wayne). "

I wouldve guess mike wallace too. It seems like his drops have been more glaring though. Maybe they were in more crucial situations so I remember them more. I didnt see the dallas game so I dont know when AJ's drops happened

One was a give me, wide open easy TD. Another I recall was late in the game on 3rd down. Probably one of his worst games as a Bengal but I can't even hate on him for it at all. We had our opportunities that game but blew it as a hole. I guarantee AJ was more upset with himself than anyone giving him **** for it.

I don't bet...really about anything. I don't even play the lottery.

Just not something to do even for fun.

Yeah but Green gets a lot of dink and dunk passes whereas Wallace is expected to perform downfield aerial acrobatics like Lynn Swann.

Reverse psychology?

Dalton just chucks em down field with faith that AJ will make some superman catch.

Wrong.

Mike Wallace averages 13.1 ypc.
AJ Green averages 14.2 ypc.

Do you bother to check anything before you squat and drop?

So predictable.

Nine out of ten comments you throw out there are blatant troll attempts and you haven't figured out yet that everyone knows this? Yet as soon as someone comments on one of your posts, you act like you've just made the dupe of the century.

That aside, with what little effort you put into it, how can you even begin to have any sense of satisfaction when you fail 90 percent of the time?

Now tell me how you don't care enough to put any effort into it because you know eventually someone will "bite" and you can continue to go on being the intellectual equal to SFB. And don't forget to tell me how this "novel" means that you've gotten under my skin and i'm butt-hurt that you 'reeled me in' regardless of the fact the only thing i'm doing is trying to help keep this forum mildly interesting to myself and anyone over the mental age of 7.

Does being an ex stain's fan/steelers bandwagon jumper really make a person that bitter and lazy?

No mike Wallace gets atleast 3 screen passes thrown to him a game. And mike Wallace is expected to get the deep balls because its basically the only route he can run other than taking three steps back for a screen pass. And to think he wanted Fitzgerald money WOW.

His drops are indeed more glaring. When Ben went out it was his timee to put up or shut up when it comes to proving whether he's worth a big contract or not. He's been non-exsistant ever since Ben got hurt.

If any Steeler fan thinks that performance vs the Chargers matters, they're fulla' it. I don't count garbage time, particularly when he blew it multiple times prior to garbage time.
