I hope we win superbowl, Marvin retires, Zimmer takes over. I do not want this team to lose Zimmer.

Promote Marvin make Zim HC give Gruden a huge pay raise and make him asst HC.

But he's 29-29-1 without CP9 as his starting QB. Now that he's taken his losing way to Oakland, the future is bright.

yes... but The Family tends to hang on as long as they can, probably for the same reason they have the Carl Pickens Clause. It's kind of like the Berlin wall, don't let anyone defect, because they become a liability. But it doesn't matter. The problem is not Marvin. The problem is The Family.

Re: Should Marvin Get Fired If We Lose????
Now why go and throw that at all the Marvin haters that cling to the.....well for the past 200 years argument.

If Marvin staying is at the expense of Zimmer leaving, I say Marvin goes. But if we can keep Zimmer and Gruden, then Marvin should stay. Lets play this hand and see if this coaching group can lead this Team to a SB!

marvin has lost much more important games and recieved contract extensions. face it, the only way marvin leaves this team is if he quits.

If he is directly responsible for the loss, yes.
But if the Bengals lose, it should not be an automatic pink slip for Black Jesus. Agree with what others have said, in that he has lost bigger games and still kept his job, so why would we expect that to change? Bengals could get into the playoffs and get ambarassed again and Mike Brown would hold a parade in honor of the team's albatross...

That can't be right. We know that Dalton is 17-13 in the regular season . Kitna and Fitzpatrick (Losman, Jordan Palmer, and Gradkowski haven't actually started any games right?) certainly played more games and had a less winning percentage than 6-2-1. I'm guessing this doesn't include Dalton. Which hey, that makes the stat even more surprising. I remember Kitna being around .500 and Fitzpatrick being worse than that. Guess I was wrong?

I heard through the grapevine (Marvin golfs around town) that Marvin was about to quit a few years ago, but The Family made some concessions to keep him in town. Now this was about 4 years ago when **** was bad. No reputable coach in his right mind would have come to Cincy in 2008 with all the drama and problems on the field and off. But that was back then and this is now. This 2012 team is young and talented and they have good character. The Family has much more leverage right now if they want to find a new coach.

Marvin has brought stability to this team over the last 10 seasons and we actually have an identy now. were going to hit you in the mouth on defense and were not going to beat ourselves.

Actually, Marvin is 29-29-1 without Palmer as a starter.

You guys are right. I mistakenly subtracted Carson's total won/loss record from Marvin's record.
Anywho, he has a better record without him and is on the verge of making the playoffs for 2 years running. I voted no to the OP because there is a way we can lose Sunday and still make the playoffs. Now if the question was "Should Marvin get fired if we missed the playoffs?" My answer may be different. |

Another good question: "Should Marvin be fired if the Bengals do another quick exit in the playoffs"

However, if the playoffs include the Bengals, Marvy's deal will be extended, and the question becomes moot. |

If true, the moniker Mediocre Marvin is apropos.

In the last 4 years your team has went to the playoffs 2 times and if we win it will be 3 of the last 4 years your team has been in the playoffs why would you fire that coach?
