Percy Harvin leaves Minnesota?

Per Rotoworld, from ESPN:

ESPN Twin Cities reports Percy Harvin and coach Leslie Frazier had yet another heated exchange that likely contributed to the receiver being placed on injured reserve earlier this month.
It's the third documented issue with Harvin and the organization since June. The exchange is believed to have begun in the training room and has fueled speculation that the "deteriorating" relationship between the two men could lead to Harvin's exit from Minnesota. Seeking a new contract and frustrated with the identity of the Vikings offense, Harvin briefly issued a trade request last offseason. The team will have to decide whether to offer him a long-term deal heavy on performance-based incentives and escalators or prepare to shop him in March and April. One NFL personnel man estimates that Harvin would draw a second- or third-round pick in a contract year.

A second round pick and a contract could net a dynamic talent to pair with Green. The Bengals have the cap space. What do you think?

I would give up our 2b for him in a heart beat. Our 2a in about two heart beats.

I know its a long-shot this early, but if Harvin is available, the Bengals have to be in the handful of teams that are best positioned to acquire him. Extra draft picks, and the cap space make this so. If this were to happen, the offense as a whole becomes dangerous. AJ Green cannot be bracketed as much. The middle of the field opens up. Third downs become more manageable. The search for a number 2 WR is over, and its more like 1A & 1B.

I would be all for giving up a #2 for him. My only concern is that he seems to have a problem staying healthy.

He's a good football player, but he has problems staying healthy, and he's extremely immature.

Those are two very big red flags for me.

Another one is him only being 5'11, 180-190 because I want our number two to be a big target as a safety valve and be able to hold on to the ball after taking a big hit.

He and Moch could have migranes together.

WRs from UF never workout; Percy has been the most successful to come out of there in quite some time and he has been a disappointing draft choice to date.

Percy Harvin was ridiculous before he got hurt. He's had awful QBs, and an offensive coordinator who never uses him, yet his yards per touch remain very high as a running back and WR. He deserves so much better, and I would be ecstatic to see what Gruden can do with him

Having Christian Ponder, bad Donovan McNabb, and Joe Webb as your QB is like playing with one hand behind your back and telling the defense what play is coming. Harvin could be the piece that puts the Bengals over the top over the Ravens and Steelers, which have NFL average secondaries. Has he had nagging migraines and injuries? Yes, but he's missed less games than you think, and he's a tough dude. I'd love for the Bengals to sign him.

Marv likes guys who practice, as he should. This guy would never see the field here.

Harvin would be worth a shot, if the Bengals didn't NEED another WR. Having to rely on a guy with chronic injury concerns is not good football sense. For that matter, I think our WR2 of the future is already on the team, his name is Mohamad Sanu or Marvin Jones or something like that.

Whalen offers a different skill set.
I see no reason to keep Percy and a very poor man's Percy on the roster.
Funny, it hasn't even happened and yet it has started

Call me old-fashioned, but the drama Harvin causes has no place in a football facility.

Superb talent, but we've turned a page on these guys.

Two consistent migraine sufferers on the same team? Yikes, count me out.

Whalen offers no skill set. Can't separate. Not a Red zone threat. Below average NFl receiver.

Seems to offer more than pre-season HOF'er Armon Binns...

Also, I'd like to see a below average NFL receiver make that catch Whalen made today. He's not great by any means, but he's worth a roster spot.

For the record I though Binns ****** as well. Both are PS guys, and not NFL difference makers. If the Bengals draft any WR next year, they'll make the 53 over Whalen.

I give him props for getting that catch and coming down with it one-handed.

Which brings me to Charles. That's another guy who seems to make catches when thrown to.

Why is he virtually being ignored??

Maybe a pass or two might come his way every so often.

I'd feel better having Dalton target him and not trying to find Hawkins in crossing routes.

I'm not bashing on Hawkins... he's just a hard target for AD.

We already have our Percy Harvin. His name is Andrew Hawkins.

Harvin is averaging 10.9 ypc, Hawkins 10.8. Harvin has 3 TDs, Hawk has 4. Harvin is their #1 guy Hawk is our 2 or 3.

The Bengals won't go after him anyway, so it's moot.
