I'd have to back off what I implied earlier in the thread about the pass protection. I've just got done watching a replay of the game on NFL rewind and actually the protection was pretty good most of the game. 6 sacks sounds bad, but actually watching the game again in a calmer frame of mind, those 6 sacks were some of the very few plays there was actually pressure on Dalton. Most other pass attempts were pretty clean. Considering the number of passes we threw that's pretty good.

But the run blocking was atrocious. They have to be better in the playoffs, without question. I think they will be.

they face a good defense again next week so it should be pretty easy to gauge how the running game is with both centers in, not that you REALLY need more proof after todays performance.

but if the running game suddenly works next week and it does so while robinson is in the game, well then id hate to see them not at the very least keep the rotation going in the playoffs.

pass protection was good today i thought, was like watching how the steelers oline protects big ben, good stuff.

If they don't outright bench Cook I'll be confused. The sack numbers with him back are staggering.

We were against the number 1 defense but to be held to less than 20 rush yards is god awful. The only other defenses that scare me in the playoffs are Denver and Houston.

Please use more Charles and Peerman.


If Cook gets 1 min out of the 60 mins over Trevor I will probably be disgusted again.

I understand why they needed to activate him, otherwise they'd only have 2.5 CBs (yes, Clements is .5) plus a questionable Adam Jones.. but I think people are more upset that Boom was inactive after having a tipped punt two weeks ago, and then a blocked/recovered punt a week ago, on top of actually getting positive/even yards on a couple runs that should have been like -4 and -6.

The guy got a chance to play and stepped up HUGE, so surely there could have been someone else who could be deactivated to make room for Boom. Also, Allen finally showing up and the first time most people recall seeing him on TV is him making the Bengals lose 72 yards in field position. Not a good first impression. Hah

We could not do anything up the middle because they were loading the box. It was apparent they came to stop the run and were going to make Andy beat them by throwing outside.

You are not talking about an average defense. These guys are very disciplined. It is easy to say we could have done that but with a safety like Troy P. it is much harder to actually do it.

As well, Benny is not an outside runner and you have to remember that Peerman has had an ankle injury. Even then the success of Peerman has really also been up the middle and getting thru creases.

Cook played all snaps.... no push up the middle seems about what ive been seeing the last few weeks..

Pass blocking was okay on a few plays. but not many.

Kyle Cook is like the exact opposite of Pat Sims. Both have been out a good amount of the year. When Sims is in, the DL seems to play better as a whole. When Cook is in, the OL seems to play worse as a whole.

I hope that since next week's game does not matter much, Robinson gets his chance to play against the Ravens. The coaches cannot use the excuse of "Cook has the experience against our division rivals". This prevents Robinson from ever gaining that experience, and Robinson has earned the right to play against a division rival.
