If the Bengals can re-sign Thomas Howard, it would be an uphill situation for Ogletree to beat out Howard for the starting WILL role.

Howard was the 38th overall pick in 2006. And Howard played practically every down in 2011. And Howard was our best LB in 2011.

WTS, the initial depth chart didn't seem to have anyone as the SAM2.

Unless, the poster envisioned Ogletree assuming the MIKE:

WILL: Howard/Lemur/Vincent Rey
MIKE: Ogletree/Maualuga
SAM: Burfict/Skuta (or Moch or Joiner or Schaffer)

I don't know why everyone is bringing up Jenkins as justification to not take Mathieu. Jenkins was taken at the top of the 2nd, Mathieu wouldn't be picked until the bottom half of the 6th. HUGE difference. You have to try and make a 2nd round pick work, but you can cut a 6th rounder the minute he messes up.

An explosive (full-time) returner is something this team has been missing for awhile. Mathieu would be that guy.

I did.

the 9ers have multiple 3rd rd picks so getting one from them wouldnt be all that hard i wouldn't think.

Would there be any value there though? I understand Elam and Vaccaro are in 1st round considerations, but we've got a pick at the top of the 2nd, so I think it would be a better value(if you wanted a safety that high) to take one there.

Dunlap's inconsistency and Geathers leaving makes DE a need. Why not take a good one and improve upon one of the best lines the Bengals have ever had? If not Ansah, Okafor should be available.
