This could be big for the Bengals next season and for Joiner having a full offseason to get ready for 2013. Was easily a first round talent if not for his criminal record. He has since graduated with honors from Arkansas State. Could be what we thought we were getting in Dontay Moch

He was never considered a first round talent.

He played de on 3rd Down and obvious passing situations. I think he is a lot like Alson smith. Not great size but extraordinary strength and quickness. If he can contribute at some level to what he was in college he will be great for the team.

OLD marvin lewis loves linebackers, so do i. i also believe going after the running back that is with the chiefs, can't remember his name will solidify our backfield . he is a great back and already knows how the nfl works. a rook coming out would not play, ie marvin lewis with rooks.does anyone know if he will be available???if he is, all of us on here should hammer mr. mike brown to go get him. if we yell loud enough and long enough, he will listen.we need him.

You have to give the organization some credit for some of these guys on the roster and the turn around stories.

A.Jones was left for dead - I would argue he one of the best number 3 corners in the game.

A. Smith - after the disaster that was the start of his career and the mind burning image of him running the 40.

A. Hawkins - finding talent in all places, now if they could figure out how to use him.

V. Burfict - I hope they do a half hour special or something on this guy, he has really salvaged his career to this point.

T. Newman - Another career left for dead, say what you will but this guy bailed us out this year.

R. Nelson - Traded for David Jones and resigned

Etc.

Lets hope Joiner is the next in line.

Let's see what he can do. I think he could still do well, and this team does need some LB help. Joiner will probably be on this team, and even though there are red flags, that incident is from 2007. I haven't seen any other flags since then. Glad he's out of jail and hope he leads a successful life.

Potential 1st Round talent? That's a bit optimistic for a guy at Arkansas State with 48 tackles.

I was a Bengals fan when you were 4 years old Bonnie! In fact, I was a Browns fan before there was a football team in Cincinnati!

I've been a fan from Greg Cook, who many say was the Gale Sayers of QBs but just got hurt and never got a chance, to Andy Dalton.

With the release of Benson, the Bengals have pretty much cleaned thug house, which is why I can't understand why anyone would want to adopt another one!

However they ARE number 2 since 2000 behind Minnesota on the arrests/convictions.

I believe Joiner was a political signing too. The governor of Arkansas recommended him if I recall correctly.

I wasn't really happy about this signing at the time. He's not a potential 1st round pick as people are spinning it as.

Chances are this guy doesn't stick on the roster...but its a low risk signing.

Well we one of the most notorious Thugs on our D, Adam Jones. Had we not taken that chance who knows if he would have turned his life around, same for Burfict.
Rey has been known to randomly punch someone in the face.

I'm not defending "Thugs", but you have to remember most of these guys are or were under the age of 23-25 when they made bad choices. I can say I made a few when I was that age.

I hope Joiner comes in, earns a spot, and keeps his life on the right track. This world needs as many good people as it can get.

Better used as a 3-4 OLB though. But he won't be that great in a base 4-3. We saw some good pass rush skills though during the preseason.

And if you watched Nevada, you could definitely tell he was good at that.

has the backing of his college and state gov.

Would hardly call him a thug.
