If not, how much farther does he have to go?

I dunno but can we keep drafting line early please? People make the argument that we need an RB because the line is just making BJGE look good. Sounds like we need more line then.

Zeitler has been good no doubt, where we drafted him though he was penciled in as the day one starter and needed to be solid.
I think his ceiling is higher than Bobbie Williams while he isnt at Bobbies level yet.

No.
No, he is not. He needs to become a better pass blocker and more dominant as a run blocker.

No. And he has a long way to go.

No, Zeitler got beat bad a few times against Pittsburgh, and he has a long way to go yet. He's played great this year, and I think eventually he'll be better than Bobbie was.

The guy is a rookie. He's in his prime, as a rookie? Bobbie Williams was in his prime as a rookie? And does this mean Dalton was in his prime as a rookie, because if this is how we gauge a players "prime", in their rookie year, the we're screwed with Dalton.
When Zeitler actually reaches his prime, no one knows how good he might be compared to anyone. |

True, all he needs is time. He needs to play against these guys more than once (non division) and learn more about the defenses of the conference teams and what their strenghts and weaknesses are. Some stability at center would have been a big help to him this year

Not yet. But I won't say he wont be by the end of next season.
It's not like Bobby was a Probowler or anything. I'm happy with the Zeitler pick.

Ill say no Bobbie was one strong man and could move and move ppl give him a couple of years more strength with his agileness he will be way better.

He was the best guard in last year's draft and that is all that matters.

He was the best guard who fit our zone blocking scheme. I don't necessarily think he was the best guard. Definitely the better pick for the Bengals.

I don't ever remember Bobbie being all that GREAT. He's been very very good for a rookie and will be a probowler very soon

Zeitler will be a future pro bowler

I don't know if he is as good today as Williams was in his prime, but if not, he isn't far off. Williams, IMO was the weak spot of that super awesome 2005 line, but still a stud. I fully expect for Zeitler to exceed expectations here and become a pro-bowler in the future.

Wouldn't he already be a future pro bowler?

i think Bobbie Williams was grossly underrated during his time with us. Zeitler isn't close to that level yet. Still has a ways to go in run and pass protection. Zeitler also has been typically inconsistent as almost all rookies are. Zeitler has struggled against higher level talent this year and it makes sense. He just needs time.
They are also different players. Zeitler is leaner and more athletic than Williams was. Also, remember that Williams was part of the 05 unit that gave up 21 sacks on the year. That same line also produced a 1400+ yard rusher with 12 TDs in Rudi Johnson. That speaks for itself. |

He deserved to be a Pro-Bowler, but he still has things to learn and improve upon. But I believe he will be better than Bobbie Williams was in his prime.
I think Clint Boling will as well.

I love the way Zeitler stepped in day one as a rookie and solidified the line. But, just like Boling, he needs time to get stronger. I think you will see both Boling and Zeitler get stronger each year. I see these two being dominant the latter part of 2013 and beyond.
To answer the OP, no he is not better than Bobby in his prime. But Zeitler will not be in his prime for at least 4 or 5 years so his ceiling is higher.
