Default Shady's Post-Mosely Mock

CJ Mosely blew up my first two mocks with his decision to go back to school, but I applaud him for it.

Trying to be realistic about who might be most likely available when we draft, here goes mock #3 for me:

1. OL, Barrett Jones, Alabama - I don't see any of the top shelf LBs being here, and with the exception of Dion Jordan, whom I would also consider taking, I don't see any of the top Des falling to us. If Okafor was available, I'd snag him. Otherwise, let's shore up our Oline and take the most versatile lineman in the draft.

2A. WLB - Khaseem Greene, Rutgers, As much as I'd love Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah or Gio Bernard here, I think we need help at LB, especially if we can move Burfict to the middle next season. Greene is just too good at what we need, a WLB who can cover, to pass up.

2B. SLB - Anthony Barr, UCLA - Here's an OLB who can rush the passer, and I think he'd be a monster at SAM for us. Barr, Burfict, and Greene would be a great trio of young linebackers to mount behind our DLine.

3. FS Bacarri Rambo UGA, He'd be a real playmaker in the secondary, and we NEED one.

4. RB: Kenjon Barner, Oregon

5A. WR: Tavarres King, Georgia - 2 Bulldog WRs! Who Dey!

5B. ILB, Kevin Reddick, UNC, We need depth here in case Rey walks

6A. TE, Michael Williams, Alabama - Big blocking TE

6B. OT, Alex Hurst, LSU - I don't know. Could he be better than Roland?

I like your way of thinking stacking the o line. I think we can get CB Xavier Rhodes in the 1st (Stack CB's)...Alec Ogletree in the 2nd (OLB position of need)...& OG Gabe Jackson (Stack the o line)

Barr may not go pro because he's playing his 1st year at the position but i like that guy. He's fast.

Great, so now Barr's going to blow up this mock.

I think we've got a range of good options available to us. It's going to be really interesting to see which direction the brain-trust chooses.

I don't buy Barr in a 4-3 right now anyways. I think he should return and he can be a first rounder in 2014.

I do like the rest of that draft. Lukewarm on Jones because Im not sure where he would fit.

I'm lukewarm on his as well, maybe I'd reach and take Ziggy. But Jones could take over C or play anywhere we need him on the OLine.

I dont see Barrett as a C in the NFL unless he has to for injury reasons. He just isn't a strong guy. If you thought Cook got beat up by Hampton, Jones has struggled with the bigger NT all year.

If that's the case, then pull the trigger on Ziggy in Round 1.

I think Ansah or Hunt is the type of DE we need.
HUGE potential type who can sit and develop.

Hunt could be had much later in the draft though, couldn't he?

Shady, I love this draft. It's pretty similar to the one I'm currently working on.

Good work, sir

Always room to get stronger though. His fundamentals are good, and he's got experience at three positions. Boling got overpowered quite a bit in college as well, but he has gotten stronger it seems.

I'm almost on board with taking the best tackle on the board and grooming him as the future LT/RT. Eric Fisher fits the mold perfectly. Kind of raw, but insane upside.

Love the Tavares King pick Shady! Good draft too, addresses our needs.

I like it. My only knock is it's just not solid enough 1-2b, but the rest is great value.

Agree with 'Serk about Jones, and furthermore, it may be a stretch to grab a guy like that when we have the position pretty covered, too. Depth would not be a bad idea for a versatile guy...and let's face it, we've been lucky on the OL for years with the depth issue as compared to say, GB or Pitt or some other teams.

Green and Barr might be flipped imo, but they would hit needs for us and I love it. Though, Barr may opt to stay and pad his stats. And I love me some Rambo, and pretty stoked about a guy like Barner--but he needs to learn that he can't just beat guys around the corner in the NFL.

Default Barrett Jones foot injury

http://www.freep.com/usatoday/article/1795375

Maybe he falls to us early in round 2 ?

I am liking a round 1 pick of CB (age and injury concerns on this team), or possibly WR.

In that case just make the first 3 picks
1. Ansah
2. Ogletree
2b. Hunt.

If you don't get him in the 1st or late 2nd he won't be there. The combine will be where he makes his money.

6B. OT, Alex Hurst, LSU - I don't know. Could he be better than Roland?
1. Not a fan unless we lose Andre.

2a&b. Don't think we need two early LBs. I believe Maualuga will be back, plus Burfict and possibly Howard. I also don't like DE/OLB conversion guys. We have had no luck with them.

3 and 4 I like a lot.

Are you assuming a 5th round comp pick? I do like both picks, but not if we have already drafted 2 LBs.

Like both 6s.

Even though we could really use a guy like Jones this organization just doesnt value the trenches early unless forced to. Thats one of the reason the running game will continue to be a problem. Even if we draft a back early we need a center in the worst way. No I dont like cook and our ground game was alot better with Robinson. I like a corner early as well because our 17 pick is an injury away from bein

That's why we took Steinbach (was he a need?) and Whitworth when they had starters already in front of them

I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't mind Jones at all if he can perform at this level. He might need a year in the weight room or so, but Whit's not getting any younger. And Jones is the kind of guy who can play multiple positions. Saban has compared him the Bruce Matthews, 14-Pro-Bowl Olineman who played every position on the line for the Oilers/Titans. And Jones is a 2-time consensus All-American.

Well yes Steinbach was a need.
Whitworth was a value pick and played a spot of need (Willie's age and Steiny's contract).

This would be logical if we took a tackle. But Jones is going to play inside in the NFL. Probably at LG. Boling isn't old and isn't on the brink of free agency.
