I was all for drafting a WR early last year but now that we have Sanu and Jones from that draft I don't see the pressing need for a WR in rounds 1 or 2 this year. I think Sanu and Jones are solid players now that will be even better in their second season in the league. I personally feel that RB, OLB, DE, CB, OT are all bigger needs for this team as of now than WR.

Nope, WR is the biggest need followed by S, RB, OLB. We need one more big time playmaker to line up opposite AJ and work Hawk, Sanu, Jones into the remaining slot/4th spot next year

That big playmaker is Keenan Allen. We won't be able to get him.

WR is a position we can ignore for the fact our potential at the position with multiple people (Whalen, Sanu, Jones) while still having other solid options (Gresh, Charles) and having a great coach (Urban). It is not a completely pivotal position in general. With the other needs, and chances at BPA at DE and OT, there is no reason to draft a WWR

I guess the reason I wouldn't mind a WR is because the offense still struggles to move the ball. Why?
1. We seem to have highly rated O-lineman, so that can't be the major problem. 2. We have a solid set of TEs. 3. Dalton is going to be here for awhile, so a QB change isn't an option (nor should it be). 4. AJ is a top 3 NFL WR. So that leaves 2 spots to improve on offense: RB and WR. |

WR is the biggest need on this team. Jones and Sanu look more like solid #3 and #4 receivers.
A speedy/big-play RB who can catch out of the backfield would be second on my list. |

Sanu and Jones are ROOKIES of course they had struggles this year. Next year and even more so, their third year, they will become legitimate receiving threats. Drafting another rookie will not solve the problem next year. With Sanu and Hawkins in the slot and Jones spending the whole season on the outside opposite Green, we are going to be just fine next year.

I'm all for drafting a great WR prospect in the first 2 rounds, but what would be better is getting someone like a Greg Jennings in FA.
We've got zero WRs(or TEs) on this team that are past their rookie contracts. We need a good veteran presence in that corp. |

I don't see WR as a need. But the first round pick has to be a value pick. If a WR is the BPA, and there isn't a S or OLB who is a value at that spot I would not object to taking a WR with that pick.

I trust sanu and Marvin jones to an extent, but we have a championship caliber D. If the right player falls I agree we need to take him. I'm also for signing Reggie bush, we can use another draft pick to help out in other areas

Chris Ivory & mid/lower round - RB
WR - FA/trade pick MLB/OLB - Draft BPA O-line - Draft BPA S/CB - Draft BPA DE - Resign MJ and perhaps bring back Fanane to replace Geathers Another WR should be aquired through free agency or via trade. I think this is one area a veteran player would help Dalton.

I think If a WR like K.Allen is there he would almost have to be BPA. I like Patterson but think that the only way he contributes as a rookie is on returns. You look at a team like GB or NO not only do they have talented WR they have OC's that know how to use them. Until Gruden figures out how to use White, Hawk, Whalen, Charles, adding another guy might not be useful. |

The board may not have a pick of value at S, RB, or LB. Hence we may look at other areas be it a DE, WR, CB, or even an O-lineman.
The value at WR could be really good where we pick. Last edited by goalpost; 12-30-2012 at 11:52 AM. |

I just don't see it happening in rounds 1 or 2 no matter who is there because they have two young guys in Sanu and Jones that they like a lot. They wouldn't want to stunt the growth of those two players next season with another highly drafted rookie.

Nope! Jennings is kind of injury prone and GB has plenty of good WR's they don't need him.

Improve the O-line to give Dalton more time and our current WR core will be very good.
I want OC/OG Barrett Jones with our first pick. Boling or Cook would then be the backup. |

Andre Smith - 1st round pick Zeitler - 1st round pick Whitworth - 2nd round pick Boling - 4th round pick Cook/Robinson - UDFA So, you feel that to improve the offense that the Bengals NEED three first rounders and a second rounder on the oline? Very, very few teams in the NFL have 3 1st round players on the oline. Our WR2 corp STINKS! Tate, Binns (now cut), & Marvin Jones (raw). |
