I did not care for the play either but to be very honest how many times have you seen a QB get pasted on the sideline and the defender get flagged because the QB was goinv out of bounds.

It is a tough situation Taylor gave the impression he was going out of bounds.

Alright, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that. Didn't exactly save his season. Aside from the missed plays, it's the almost total lack of big plays he made this year or last. Your MLB needs to be a play maker.

Oh I am not saying he should be back. However, as another poster stated in another thread how many real 4-3 big play making MLBs are there? I mean honestly. We all like to talk about it but it is not like they are just running around everywhere.

I like Rey as a person(I even approve of him punching that bouncer at PLAY. I hate bouncers), but he is most certainly the Ryan Leaf of MLBs.

I just wonder if we hadn't taken him in the second, who far would he have fallen?

He was a 2nd round pick who starts 4 years in, not comparable to a top pick who lasted 9 games.

I usually try to stick up for Rey, but, ... ... I remember that play, and it didn't look good. I don't care if the game was somewhat meaningless... bring it. He also gets caught choosing horrible angles.

I agree but it seems there are more big play making MLBs than there are worse starting MLBs in the nfl when looking at rey.

The people saying he needed to be benched earlier this season didnt make sense because we had nobody better than him. If we cant find one in the draft i'm all for burfict to officially be the MLB

.. difference is, the expectation level is not the same. we know Lawson was brought in as somewhat of a temporary fix. It just so happens they have not found a permanent replacement for him. lol Plus, Lawson is not as blatantly obvious when he ... messes up.

or this
We do fine covering the middle when we put Hall on the TE like we did last week and let Jones and Newman cover. However, Burfict is the only real Lb on the team. The problem with Rey is that he gets tackles but they are usually way too late. He has been better in the second half but he will never be above average. I think we should just switch the two and he won't be so bad on the outside.

Ugh. I've seen that too often. Maybe he pulled up thinking Taylor was going out and didn't want to get the penalty. Still could have gave him a shove or something. But, whatever happened to going 100% to the whistle.

If rey at least " touches him he is out of bounds " OSU. When is it time to stop defending him?

Rey gave up and didn't try on that play.

That is unacceptable.

Rey needs to be gone, and replaced with someone who will give 100% on every play.

I give Rey credit in the Steelers game.

He seemed to play in position and was okay in pass coverage.

I also agree when others come in to help(Hall/Nelson)then he's not exploited.

Same can be said about our D line when they push back the O-line or slow down the ball carrier.

However, although this being a team sport, at times you have to stand on your own strengths.

This is when Rey is truly exploited at his deficiencies.

When a player breaks our D line and no LB is to be found you have to wonder what the heck is going on. Even when he's there... he takes bad angles, and sometimes takes blocks head-on instead of avoiding the block to make a play.

Is he bad? I don't know. Is he good. No he is not.

If he was as terrible as a lot of you say, Zimmer would have made the change by now. He's already made several dramatic changes in the secondary due to horrible play.

He's average. No more, no less. Not only that, he's improved since the beginning of the season, especially with his tackling.

I'm much more worried about the safety situation, just like I was at the beginning of the season.

This one play, thinking Taylor was going to run out on his own, was the most boneheaded thing I have seen in a long time. I wasnt a big fan of Maualuga before today, but after today's game, I pray to God he leaves Cincinnati. I felt so good burning his jersey after the game.

That tells you a lot about the man. Tells you he does not work very hard and gives up very easy. That is probably why he is a bottom feeder when it comes to being a quality LB. He could learn a thing or two or million from watching a rookie named Vontaze Burfict. That kid can play and has a motor. Burfict plays with physicalness, awareness and some attitude. I dont know if anyone else noticed, but there were a lot of Ravens going after him today; he must have been talking mad **** on the field.

Back to Rey, he is garbage; he should not be on our team next year; he will never be a quality LB, ever! Put the money into someone who will help this team.

Keep Rey in the middle and Burfict as the WLB. He is making plays on the weakside no reason in my mind to change that.
