Anyone else experiencing a complete ammo shortage in your area?

I have exhausted every option I know of, and can't really find much on the internet either. Is this just my area or did the whole country go haywire and start gobbling up ammo?

I'm talking .22 lr, 9mm, .40.

Stores are crazy busy around here. I don't know that I wouldn't be able to find any ammo, but it's very likely that I wouldn't be able to get the brand I wanted.

Here where I am, none of the ones I mentioned are available. Pretty much just shotgun shells left.

A guy at Academy told me that he had 7 different people come in and each purchased more than $3,000 worth of ammo.

My brother is a sales rep for Federal, so it's very unlikely that I'd ever run out.

This is kind of a result of the recent shooting tragedy in Newtown, and Obama being president (No, really). I'm not meaning to make this political, but people think gun laws will become much more restricted so they stock up

I agree, i knew people would start stockpiling a bit more, but not the extent that I can't go get some .22 LR to go plinking with my fam.

you can asked when they are expecting their next shipment and try to get there early that day....

And dont use up all your ammo till you can find more.

Yeah, learning that the hard way. I've been asking them all, and they all say they don't know.

I've never found a lack of .22 LR, but I also keep a healthy stock of that anyway because I never know when I'm going to go out shooting. I generally keep about 5000 rounds on hand.

For the rest of my stuff, nothing I shoot is being affected by this. I see no .45 ACP, 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, .223, 7.62x39, or 5.56 NATO around. I can still find plenty .38 Special, .357 Mag, .44 Mag, .270, .308, and 12 Ga though, and that's what I use. The stuff missing from the shelves is of no concern to me.

The shelves are pretty bare where I'm at. Even shot gun shells are being bought up.
I was at wally world the other night to check out the supply and there was only a few boxes of 12ga left that wasn't $15 a box(they didn't have many of those either).

I have heard of retailers getting told by distributors that they have already booked up all they could handle for 2013.
