Default Scouting The Orange Bowl

JAN 1st, 8:30 PM, ESPN

v.

NIU

SEAN PROGAR/DE

Undersized Dlineman that makes his living in the opponent's backfield. 8.5 sacks this year along with 10 TFL. For his career he has 24 sacks and 39 TFL. Marvin is always looking for the next Peter Boulware. This kid could be it.

XAVIER RHODES/ CB

Huge CB that could easily make the transition to FS at the next level. Numbers don't jump off the chart because opponent's usually try to avoid him.

You can't go wrong by drafting a top corner. I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Right. I think we could use a little more help at CB since age is a concern. It would also give our D line more time to get to the QB...Rhodes will be a very good CB in the NFL.

Officials have missed a LOT of helmet to helmet hits this bowl season.

NIU won't stand a chance if the officials let FSU get away with DPI and helmet to helmet hits.

Rhodes got away with one jamming the guy after 5 yards.

Why the hell would we move a promising young corner to safety when we need corners so badly?

Kirk would be out the first game at FS IMO, Now Rhodes would make real sense at S, has the size for sure.

But Rhodes is a very good corner. No way he would be moved to safety.

Then one of the first round picks would be on the bench, Kirk or Rhodes. Cause Kirk sure isn't a FS.

If he is the best player on the board I have no problem with it. Who knows what we have in Kirk.

Rhodes as a CB/Nickle FS maybe?

I think we could do some things with Dre and Rhodes. We sometimes have Leon in the slot guarding the quick guy..Maybe have Rhodes and Kirkpatrick on the outside on some plays and have Leon covering the slot.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, I wonder if Leon will make the change to S later in his career?

I don't understand people who think teams only need two corners. You need four strafing caliber CBs in the NFL

I think that is Kirkpatrick's eventual position anyway.

No five yard chuck rule in college you can jam them until the ball is in the air.
