So who knuckled down and hasn't smoked one yet besides me?
I ran out of smokes before mid night on new years eve so I was like **** it, must be a sign. First time I've quit that I actually feel like I don't need one. It's odd but I better do more cardio stuff at the gym because everything looks delicious ![]()

You can do this! The main thing is choosing not to smoke whenever the urge hits you. Staying away from the habits that went along with smoking helps a lot, whether it be drinking or eating heavy foods etc. Increasing the amount of fruits and water helps a lot too - kind of detoxes the system. The best thing is how much better you will feel as you adjust to being smoke-free.

You can quit, but only if you really want to quit. I quit 17 yrs ago. It was really tough for me, but I had a reason for wanting to quit. I kept that reason in my mind, every time that I wanted to give in.

If you've smoked for awhile, it's a big change in lifestyle to quit. No doubt it's very difficult, but once you've had enough, it's easier to move forward.

I have one pack left, and after that I am done.
I am stretching it out over this work week and then no more. The big test will be Saturday as I am going over to Charlottesville and driving is when I am the worst. |

Hi . I stopped smoking over three years ago.I used to travel 45 minutes to and from work . I would like a cig up to and from work not by feeling the need but by landmarks. I had to make sure I had three cigs going there and three cigs coming home. I finally said F this S.
I quit cold turkey. When I had the urge to smoke (drinking coffee & beer was worst for me), I would ask myself a simple question: " what is a cig going to do for me. How different will I feel 4-5 mintues from now after that cig?" When I answered that question that nothing would chsnge I was able to stay away! |

Either im going to A. Start Rolling my Own cigerretes to save money B. Switch to Electric cigs or C. Stop smoking all together. All has to wait till im not getting hammered during bengals playoff games. lol And will probly be a progression of A to B then C

I'm doing the exact same thing. (The drive, landmarks) Weird. I think I will try some of your guys advice. But like bengalfan024 said, it might have to wait till this playoff run is over. |

I tried cigarettes as a teenager. I smoked, turned green in front of my friends, and swore I'd never do it again. That was about 1967 or so. I've never touched one since.
To those who are trying to quit though, good luck, and I hope if you truly want to quit, you're able to do it.

It all boils down to willpower, for me atleast. I've already made the decision and what's done is done
No looking back.

The landmark thing is funny though, I think most smokers do that on the way to and from work. I know I did.

The actual physical addiction only takes a couple of days to get over. after that it is just a psychological thing. A big part of it is just habit so you need something to do with your mouth. Some people swear by chewing gum, but when I quit I just ****** a **** every time I got a craving to smoke. I was able to quit and I also made a lot of my friends happy.
