It's a bit early, but if the draft were today, yeah I could dig it.

I'd like to see us not only draft Montee Ball but also sign un-restricted free agent Reggie Bush. Pair these 2 with Law-Firm and we will finally have a solid running game.

There has been a bit of discussion about Reggie Bush on here. I was under the impression that Bush wants to remain a 3 down back, and the money that he will want wouldn't make sense for a commitee back.

Pretty happy. If the draft panned out like that I'd rather leave DE until 2a since players like Montgomery be there. Between our 1 and 2a they've got Ogletree, Elam and Bernard. Would rather any of them at 1 and then a different DE at 2a.

I'd be ok with it, but if we end up resigning Johnson then I think DE won't be our 1st round pick. I think we will go LB possibly in the 1st followed by RB and S then DE in the 3rd if we resign Johnson.

Which RB would you prefer in what round?

Not really.
Mingo would be hard to use properly here. He is too small for 4-3 end. I love Montee Ball and would hope he is available at our 2b or 3rd. 2a just seems high.

That depends on what type of back. 3 down? Gillislee in the 3rd round. A speedy/complimentary back? Barner, in the 4th.

Other than the first round pick I would like it.
No need for a rotational DE in the first round. There are much greater holes to fill. |

Mingo: Only if we lose MJ Since I didn't see Ogletree, take him here instead.
Ball: I don't see a need for Ball and BJGE. I want our other back to be a speed back. Vaccaro: This pick I like.

I'm okay with Mingo and Vaccaro, but no thanks on Ball. I don't think he'll be anything special.

All good players so I wouldn't mind. As long as we seriously address the offense in free agency. Otherwise, I don't know why we would even look at defense in the first two or three rounds of the draft. The running game - whether RB or OL -and a starting caliber WR should be the top priorities.

There were many who said Doug Martin was a 4th or 5th last year when i was saying early second(ended up being late 1st). I think Ball does go before the 2nd ends and could fly up the boards after the senior bowl and combine. The kid didn't set the NCAA mark for TD's by accident, but the question is was it more lineman or more Ball. I lean towards it was more Ball. Like I said though we will know more after the senior bowl practices start.

The selection of Ball is interesting. Ball would be a solid choice if we were looking for a bell cow, three-down RB. However, we still have BJGE, and just missing someone that is more dynamic to pair with him. So it comes down to whether the Bengals decide to find a bell cow, three down back to upgrade BJGE or consider BJGE good enough and want to find a better complement to BJGE's skill set to round out our running game.
Either approach shows that we are trying to upgrade the position, and I would be content with either approach. |

If we aren't losing MJ, I don't know why we would draft 1st round DE. 2a or 2b..maybe.
...and Montee Ball early in Round 2? meh...keep BJGE and draft a speedster like Kenjon Barner late 3rd round. I still want Barrett Jones OC, Alabama with our first pick...He would be our new starter at center with Cook the backup. I like his versatility. He won the Outland and All American at tackle, but likely an OC or OG in NFL...but if someone on the O-line gets injured, we are covered with a very good player. I also think we should go LB/S/maybe CB with 2a and 2b. Maybe even draft out of the 1st round altogether and pick up an extra pick this year, and maybe an additional #1 next year. |

I think that Ball is too high and Vaccaro is too low.
DE in the first round (shrugs) I'd rather take Okafor or Dion at that spot if we are going to go DE. Frankly if Elam is on the board at that spot in the first I'd just as soon take him over a 1st Round DE.

I like the idea of BGJE as a 3rd down guy. Barner is very explosive and that is what this O needs. I have a feeling a team will snag him in the second. I don't think he is a guy that handles lead back roles for an extended period of time. However that is the type of playmaker that this team needs, only question is if Gruden would use him right. I think trading out might be a real possibility, if one of the QB's is there late you have to think teams will want to get ahead of KC that has the first pick in the second. This draft needs to be quality of quantity. Edit: Just read the rest of the draft, BPA picks 1 and 2A, I'll take Lacy with that 2nd round pick and pair him with Barner in the third. Upgrade RB position, complete. Last edited by D's Nuts and Bolts; 01-02-2013 at 04:08 PM. |

The thing that worries me about Elam is he can be extremely reckless at times...in a bad way. I wonder if his passion and aggression can be contained like we have done with Burfict. If so, he would be a good pickup and worth it in the late first. However, is he worth the gamble?

I'd be ok with Mingo if we left MJ walk, but I'm hoping that we don't.
I used to love the Ball pick but I'm starting to think that we might need a homerun hitter. Then again, we do play the Steelers and Ravens four times a year, so it might not be bad (although the Ravens aren't what they once were, especially if they lose Ray). Vaccaro's not a bad pick, but I don't think he lasts that long and I like Tony Jefferson more. Not a big fan.
