Enough of DL !!!

Please Bengals scouts,you can Draft whatever player you want, but please don't draft any DLineman , especially with a high pick. Last year the team spent to high draft picks in players that never got on the field, and possibly might be traded this year. I know they can contribute in the future, but we have a lot of positions to upgrade and rookies (especially 1st to 3rd rounders) can be instantly upgrades. Ahh, and of course we need to re-sign the key players, especially MJ and AS.

We had to bring in several DEs off of the street during the season. It would not hurt my feelings if we added one.

We are good at DT.

Pass rush is the most fickle thing in the NFL.
Look at the first half of the season. Our DL was entirely inconsistent.
You always have to keep re-stocking guys who can get after the QB

We have other areas of need but grabbing a DE is never a bad idea.

You people are nuts! Do you not understand that the sole reason we are in the playoffs is because of our DL? I let Geathers walk and draft a DE in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Okafor, Jordan, Montgomery, Simon and Hunt would all look nice in stripes. Get a safety, LB, or RB with our other 2 picks in the first two rounds and we are good to go.

We had 51 sacks this season, we had 2 guys with double digit sack number, and 4 guys who had sick sacks. Plus all 4 of those guys are under 30 and three of those guys are 26 or under. We have plenty of talent on the dline!

Gilberry has made this much less of a need. Earlier I was an Okafor guy, now I don't see the need. Keep in mind we got DeQuinn Evans who is still learning.

DeQuinn Evans has been learning for quite some time now. I'd rather draft someone who can contribute right now.

4 guys on that DL are free agents. We probably won't keep every one of them.
3 of them are role players.
1 of them had a break out year in a contract year (buyer beware)

Outside of that we have Dunlap who is wildly inconsistent.
Peko who offers almost no pass rush.
Still and Thompson, both unknowns.

We had one guy who generated consistent pressure.

Can we expect Geno to carry the DL again? Will someone else finally step up?

Baltimore and Pitt did this for years.
You win and lose games in the trenches.
Can never have enough talent there and if a DE is staring us in the face, take him.

I really wish there were some blue chip centers in this draft.

5-7 round guy right now.
He shows up closer to 300 at the combine and looks strong, he could go higher.
I'm just waiting on our chance for an Alex Mack or Nick Mangold.
Really top tier C prospect.

Mj has improved every season since he has been here, dunlap has become a complete player, gillberry is a solid player who has emerged at the end of the season, and atkins is a superstar. We have plenty of cap space to sign these guys as well.

Nope.
Which is why I don't see the point in trying a guy like Barrett Jones at C when I think he would only be a marginal upgrade at best.
He is probably the best C in the draft, but I don't think it's his best position.

I was hoping Rex would get fired and NYJ would have a fire sale and cut more expensive guys like Mangold.

Dunlap is not complete. He is wildly inconsistent.
Is he better than he was? Yes. Does he bring it EVERY game? No.

MJ has also been incredibly average at everything he does.
He isn't a 10 sack guy. I'm incredibly happy he had the year he did but it is also a misleading year.
This line lives and dies around Geno. Plain and simple. You can't last that way for long in the NFL.
