Default Andy Reid on verge of becoming Chiefs coach

The Kansas City Chiefs made a big push for Andy Reid, and now it appears they will land their guy.

Reid's camp was planning to notify the Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers Thursday afternoon he will not be meeting with them because he was closing in on a deal with the Chiefs, according to a person informed of the progress of negotiations between the former Philadelphia Eagles coach and the team.

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because talks were ongoing, said Reid was loosely planning to interview with Arizona on Friday and San Diego on Saturday but that the meeting with the Chiefs Wednesday night went so well it's become clear that's where Reid is likely to land. The person said there is no deal as of now, but it's likely to be finalized shortly.

I heard on the Radio the earlier today, that Reid would only sign with them if they fire Scott Pioli, and hire former Browns GM Tom Heckert

This. The Chiefs have a stud RB, a defence that was done no favours by an offence that turned the ball over at an incredible rate and the No.1 pick in the draft.

With Reid and Heckert they have a real chance to build and become a solid team in a couple of years.
