why draft a Corner at all this year when.....

Our starting lineup in my opinion is already on our roster. In 2013 who would have a problem with us going into week 1 with our corners looking like this?

Newman is going to be 35.

I am not sold on Kirkpatrick as a starting CB.

Hall: Still a good starter
Kirkpatrick: Would basically start his rookie season next year
Adam Jones: Great comeback story
Terence Newman: Will be 35 next year
Jason Allen: Will be turning 30 (not big of deal). However, has played 16 games in a season once the past 4 seasons
Brandon Ghee: Usually always hurt, hasn't shown anything on the field.

This secondary has talent. Just health is a huge issue.

i always have wanted us to sign sam shields this off season due to terrence newmans age. so i feel u there.

as for kirkpatrick im not sure he can start week 1 but by the end of the season i see him as our starter...in the mean time i would not object to allen and pac rotate at cb along kirkpatrick.

Why cut Allen? 2 year deal.

Team needs to get younger at CB, and this is a good time to draft one as he can learn behind all the vets with no "need" to start.


I like going after a CB in the later rounds, but not in the first couple, as the team has greater need at LB, S, and RB. A good ball hawking safety would impact the secondary more than a young CB, and is the preference of many.

In a pass driven league I typically I have no issue adding a top flight corner.

Cuz he's due to make something like $4 million next year and has done absolutely nothing positive for this team.

Draft a corner in the mid rounds (4-5), maybe even the 3rd if it's BPA, then let him sit behind Hall to learn the position.

People may not realize this but Hall will be 29 years old before the end of next season. In this draft or next we should draft his eventual replacement.

Allen, Ghee for me will go away, Newman high chances too. Kirk is question mark, and Hall is coming off from an Achilles this year and you never know if he is 100% healed. A 1st round talent its very necessary IMO.

Age of our current group is the biggest reason. However, I don't see the need for a 1st or 2nd rounder.

Really the only pos that should not be drafted is DT,QB,P,TE. The rest should be fair game for BPA.

Let's hope Kirk can stay healthy, I really wish we would have looked at Hightower,or C Jones or even Rieff, with that pick. It made sense at the time because it was need.

We have a lot of "youth" in the secondary. Ghee, Kirk, Prater, Iolka, Sands, Mays.

We know what Mays is, the rest are ? marks as far as being starters.

Lots of folks are having difficulty adjusting to the fact that we are a pretty good team. Gone are the days of drafting for need. We now have the luxury of drafting BPA. If a Corner is the BPA, then I would prefer we take him instead of reaching for a "need" such as RB, SS, LB.

WTS I hope when it comes our time to draft that RB, SS, and LB are the BPA with 3 of our first 5 picks.

Krikpatrick was our first round corner last year and he never got a chance due to his injury...so now u want us to do it all over again, lets give kirk a chance before we go high on another CB this year. im all for it next year if this group dont pan out.

Depth Depth Depth yes BUT NOT at corner at the EXPENSE of DL. Yes Pass happy league but the quickest way to QB is DL. Straight line...A to B. Premium positions on Defense are DE and CB but in that order. To help with pass defense DE's first and then CB's and I am of the opinion that we are NOT set on DE's.

Seriously? What has Allen done? What has Ghee done? You do realize the ages of Jones and Newman right? This is the first full season Jones has made it thru.

You can NEVER have too much good young talent at CB.
