Daughter being admitted to the hospital.

She is doing better. No fever since the first morning. The doctors said when she does not need oxygen at night then we can go home. She has been on and off oxygen during the day but has needed it at night every night. Still has her coughing spurts but they are less frequent and does not take as long for her to get through them. When we first got here the only way for her to get better during a coughing episode was to take a breathing treatment. When we get home we will still have to do the iv antibiotics every 6 hours for a total of 2 weeks which my wife and I are familiar with. That's on top of our "normal" everyday ritual she goes through because of the cf. Thanks again to all of you and will keep you all posted.

I am glad the fever has gone, sounds like the antibiotics are doing their job. I will continue to pray for her, and also for a cure. I know they have made some major breakthroughs with CF, the cure has to be just around the corner.

That's great to hear she is home and doing better!!!! That will be so good for her(and you) to be home for Christmas and get back to pre-school with her friends!!!! All you have to do is say the word and you will have lots more prayers for her(she will still be on my prayer list though.)

Glad to hear that she is doing better. I have a daughter who is 3 and is also in pre-school and I know how contagious that atmosphere can be because the little ones have no idea about germs and sneeze in their hand, wipe it on something and go.

Ask about me............... I'm a legend in that place!! (Actually, Kinnet might still be the only one there from when I was because I think all the nurses are gone.)

(You could have meant Shriner's, but I think that's the only other one.)

Sorry it took so long to respond. She is still doing well. We go on the 3rd for a checkup to see if the pneumonia and or the crackles in her lungs are gone. On the 23rd she complained about her belly hurting a little so we did not hook her up to her feeding tube that night. The next day, Christmas Eve, she woke up acting fine then a little later in the day started complaining about her belly hurting again. We thought it was the antibiotics since they can cause belly trouble. But then a little later she started wincing and crying about her belly hurting. We were seconds away from taking her back to the hospital but then she fell asleep. She woke up about an hour later and had a decent bowel movement and said she felt better. We are always on edge because when she was born she had a blockage in her intestine and they had to end up removing about of foot from her small intestine because of that. She was in the hospital for her first 5 months of her life. She has had another bowel obstruction since, that did not require surgery and a year after that caught something that made her really constipated and dehydrated. So I am always worried about that happening because I can't handle her being in pain. My wife is the strongest women I know and stays with her when that stuff happens.

So long story long it seems like the antibiotics are doing their job and she seems to be doing better. She is not coughing much at all and is back to getting her normal 3 breathing treatments a day instead of 5 or 6. I will give an update on the 3rd or 4th on how the appointment went. Her lungs sound clear and she got her picc line (IV) out. We ended up doing a high resolution chest CT to see if they saw anything and that came out pretty good. They and we are still debating about doing a bronchoscopy, we are leaning not to do it and they want to do it. A big THANK YOU to all of you! God Bless!

That picture is amazing. She's adorable. And it sounds like still more good news. As I told you, I'm not religious, but there's a prayer chain started by my mother, and it's all over the country now. Family, friends, etc. have called all over the place.
