There is not a single FA QB or anyone worth drafting that would be better than Dalton. Psssh to those thinking that Mike Vick should start here.

Ok, in all seriousness, I like Dalton as the Bengals starting QB.
Tebow would have put up better numbers today.

I don't actually think we should replace him this season, mostly because, as you said, there's nobody who would really be an upgrade over the course of the season.

With that said, Dalton is not going to have a very long or successful career, in my opinion.

He's about what Sanchez is in NY, minus the buttfumble.

He's a good QB. He's not a great QB. Sanchez isn't even a serviceable QB. Dalton is the type of Quarterback that needs a lot of good pieces around him and he can run the Offense. There are very few in the league that aren't like this. Maybe a half dozen or so. Give him a legit #2 receiver, a line that can pass protect, and receivers that don't drop balls, and he'll win TONS of games for the Bengals.

I think its Dalton, at least for a few more years. If we can shore up the pass protection and get a proper possession receiver, we can expect him to perform. I think he needs a better QB coach to work on deep accuracy also.

I'd be for bringing him in as a backup and for competition, but to suggest that he'd be the starter is silly. He would have to legally change his name to Mexico though.

Yep you guys are right. We are STUCK with Andy Dalton. We all know Marvin and Mike Brown are afraid of change. They won't take a chance on getting someone that could be better than Dalton or even push/compete with Dalton to get better. We will nothing at backup QB and Dalton is the only player to put out there. He has plenty of weapons on offense and a really good defense. When he can't convert a single third down during a game and the defense is on the field for 2/3 of the time and we still give him a chance to win the game and he doesn't come through that has to be because of all the other players on the team and not his pathetic game he played tonight and the past 4 or 5 games before that. Defend him all you want but we will never make a deep run in the playoffs with him at QB.

He's already said he won't take a job as a backup.

Out with the old in with the new... Lewis needs to take responsibility for once in his coaching career. He's the one of the constants over the years and the main man in charge, he hasn't gotten it done in 10 years and a new quarterback won't win because of him, only despite of him.

I haven't exactly been fully on board with the fire marv bandwagon, but I'm ready for it, I'm thousands of miles away but I feel the city needs a change, he's had his shots and gave us hope a handful of times, but now is the time.

Carson Palmer. Just trade the Raiders 2 1st rounders and KABOOM. All of our problems will be solved.

Anyone who thinks Andy Dalton is the answer is crazy.

There HAS to be better FA's and draft picks out there. There HAS to be. It can't get any worse.

Joe Webb performed better than Andy Dalton. Ever heard of Joe Webb? Me neither.

And he would have shown more heart. Tim Tebow has also done something Dalton has not done. Tebow has won a playoff game.

I refuse to believe that. I refuse to be apart of this cop-out.

There's only a few that aren't. I know you're not going to believe this, but I'm gonna tell you anyways....

ANY QB ON THAT LIST WOULD HAVE THROWN FOR 3600 YARDS IN THIS OFFENSE THIS SEASON.

Not good enough, Andy. We deserve better. We should demand better.

OK answer this. Would Dalton be a starter. No wait, effective starter anywhere else in the NFL?. He has AJ Green and can't hit him!!

Maybe we can call in Brett Favre and see if he wants to come in for a tryout

Andy Dalton was ranked the 25th QB by pro football focus. Andy Dalton wouldn't start for any team in this league save a handful of bottom feeders. He's not good enough. He's never going to be good enough.

But let's be clear.

He needs a back up that shows promise

In Philly, they took a young guy, Nick Foles, who was, at one point, considered a top 10 pick. He slid due to some bad mechanics, but he still had the natural talent.

We need a back up like that. Gradkowski isn't pressuring Dalton at all.

If we drafted, say, Landry Jones, Tyler Bray or Ryan Nassib, they would only cost a 4th or 5th rounder.

But they would provide pressure to Dalton and force him to improve.
I agree

Andy will be OK. Get him some some more weapons and more experience. If he still struggles.... Then we can bring out the torches and pitchforks. Of course we need a front office willing to do what it takes to accomplish that......and we all know that situation

andy Dalton was 13th in QB Rating Ahead of Eli Manning(14),Cam Newton(15)Carson Palmer(16) and Andrew Luck (26)

in terms of Passing Yards Dalton was 16th. ahead of Ben Roethlisberger(21) Robert Griffon III(22(

In Touchdowns he was 7th ahead of Eli Manning(9) Ben Roethlisberger(9)Andrew Luck(14)Carson Palmer (15)Mat Schaub(15) Joe Flacco(15)Robert Griffin III(19)Cam Newton(21)

Not exactly great but Dalton is far from our main problem right now.
