Default Perhaps the Bengals' last chance to save QB position

In 2011, I thought the Bengals should have drafted Kaepernick instead of Dalton. Last year, I argued that the Bengals should have used Dalton in order to move up to draft RG3, who I knew would be better than Dalton. See this thread for more info: http://boards.bengals.com/showthread.php?t=93693 this might be the last time the Bengals can trade Dalton in order to draft a better QB. Trade Dalton to move up to draft Geno Smith. He's a franchise QB. He's not as good as RG3 but he will still be a star and is, unlike Dalton, a QB to build around.

Answer me this: do you think Dalton is either better than CK or RG3?

They're not trading Dalton. Even if they could better the team they're not going to. He's staying.

As long as we are handing out trades nobody would take, we should have traded Rey for Luck and Gresham for RG III and then let them fight it out. Then we could have traded which ever one lost out to Minn for Peterson and Harvin.

I'll be the one to ask...who, exactly, were you trading Dalton to in order to get RG3? The Rams? Because that is mental. Just flat out nuts.

A three team deal between Bengals, Rams and Browns. Dalton goes to the Browns.

Thank you, someone else seen what i did in geno smith. I am biased because i am from wv and a fan. I mentioned drafting tavon austin or stedman bailey but was bashed by blind bengal homers, yes i am a life long reds and bengals fan, from wv, and i moved here because of it in 2004, but i am not a homer, i say draft geno, let him learn under andy for a year or let him compete in camp, geno will beat him in camp, he has excellent field vision, accurate and a big arm, and he can run, he did not have to at wvu cause of tavon and stedman, but i agree with you draft geno

Geno will be the #1 pick. We have no shot at him.

He reminds me of Big Ben.

Geno Smith isn't good. Heck, there's even speculation that Barkley is better than him. Smith is in a poor QB class.

Dalton > Smith
Heck, Smith isn't even the best player in this draft. Not even close.

The QB position has been figured out. Get some LBs that can cover, get a speed RB, and a leader MLB

Mallet was the best qb to come out in the in the draft.

Trade a pick and give the patriots Gresham or Mauluga for Mallet.

Big and elusive. Almost impossible to tackle. Very, very smart QB. Is a pure pocket passer, but can use his legs when needed.

He's a Ben clone. He's going to be an All-Pro.

Personally, I think Dalton can be the guy that we need. Granted he looked lost in the first half yesterday and missed some clutch throws towards the end. There were a couple key drops by Gresh and also some missed opportunities like when BJGE was hit in the flat and dropped for -6 yards ( Hawkins or Jones was WIDE OPEN for atleast a 20yard gain).

Gruden's play calling is no better than Brat's.... I mean why not do the things that have worked in the past? No receiver/TE screens, no reverses, no wildcat, and we ran BJGE 11 times at the tune of 5.73 ypc so why stop there????

AJ should have been targeted more in the first half and I have no clue why Orson Charles and Hawkins weren't moved around and utilized. I'm tired of seeing the same bullsh*t plays that do NOT work and I'm sure everyone is tired of AJ not being used more. He's a top 3 receiver in the league, put the ball in your best player's hands or atleast try to because thats what Brady does with Welker and Gronk and look at how efficient that offense is. AJ looked heated on the sidelines yesterday because he was out there getting open and Andy couldn't seem to look his way until the end of the 3rd quarter... THE 3RD QUARTER!

All in all, Andy missed AJ when it mattered most but maybe that would have been different if Gruden ran the ball more than 11-15 times between Peerman and the Law Firm. He should have tried to get Andy in a rhythm early on with some bubble screens and quick routes instead of playing scared.

Maybe we actually invest in a #2 we before trading him?

Marvin Jones, Tate, and Whalen don't see the field on most teams.

Do you think the Bengals should have made a move to get RG3? Trying to discredit my opinion that the Bengals should have tried to move heaven and earth to get RG3 by incessantly invoking a video game is nonsensical. It would have been difficult, but do you remember the Herschel Walker trade? Or the Ricky Williams trade? Blockbuster trades do happen.

So just answer my original question. Do you think the Bengals should have made a move for RG3? If they did acquire him, I think the team would be in a much better position. Do you disagree?
