Default PFF Wild Card Ranking

I know this is Truck's thing, but it appears he is unable/unwilling (Rey's Score) to do it. So I thought I'd throw them out there before the Board goes into hibernation. Maybe Truck can explain them later

Offense (Best)
Andre Smith +2.3
John Conner +1.1
Benjarvis Green-Ellis +0.7
A.J. Green +0.3
Kevin Zeitler +0.3

Offense (Worst)
Orson Charles -1.0 (for poor run blocking)
Clint Boling -1.2 (for poor pass blocking)
Kyle Cook -1.6 (dude was -2.5 in pass blocking)
Andy Dalton -1.9
Jermaine Gresham -2.6

Defense (Best)
Geno Atkins +5.4 (for just being overall awesome)
Reggie Nelson +2.5
Leon Hall +1.9
Pat Sims +1.6
Terrence Newman +1.4 (the dude folks loved to hate had a solid year)

Defense (Worst)
Vontaze Burfict -1.1 (penalty really hurt)
Domata Peko -1.6
Manny Lawson -1.8
Michael Johnson -2.1 (terrible in pass rush)
Rey Maualuga -3.4

Notes:
Burfict graded well in pass coverage (+1.9)

Gresham finished the Regular Season as the lowest rated TE that qualified

Rey finished the Regular Season as the lowest rated ILB that qualified

Geno finished the Regular Season as the highest rated DT that qualified. His grade was by far the highest ever given to a DT in the history of PFF

Of the Olinemen that started yesterday's game all finish the year with a positive grade except for 1 (Cook -5)

Andre finished the Regular Season as the highest rated RT that qualified.

PFF grades every NFL player on every play on a scale of from -2 to +2 using half point increments. The grades are based on context and performance. A 4 yard run that gains a first down after two broken tackles will receive a better grade than a 4 yard run on third-and-5 where the ball carrier did nothing more than expected. A good pass that a receiver tips into the arms of a defender does not receive a negative grade, despite the negative result.

Furthermore, grades are separated by play type. Beyond just an overall grade, an offensive lineman receives one grade for pass blocking and one for run blocking. The average grade is meant to be zero, and raw grades are normalized.

In watching every game, PFF is also able to record information and create data that is typically unavailable. Examples include how often individual offensive linemen yield pressure, passer rating against individual defensive players, and passer rating when under pressure.

Some are ready to count Clint Boling out, but I say let Kyle Cook go. He was playing well until Cook came back in. Whether it's coincidence, I have no idea, but Cook is straight up hot garbage.

Of the times Boling did badly on these scores I believe Cook was in the negative as well.
You might be onto something.

It's some Irish guy who doesn't even live in the country and has no connection to the NFL, no real knowledge of American football, no inside info or any familiarity with teams schemes, assignments, or what players are supposed to be doing on a given play.

Every coach in the NFL says PFF is a joke.

But some morons on message boards give it a ton of credibility.

How was Peko rated so low, he probably played his best game of the year, blew up their screen game several times.

As far as I know, Gresh graded terribly as a blocker, and he dropped a ton of passes.

I think we'll drop Maualuga, but I think Gresh will be here at least until his contract runs out.

I have a pretty sizeable knowledge of the NFL and I am living in Cambridgeshire, England. We have something called the internet and televisions here, works wonders I tell you.

I'm an Italian background, Canadian-born person, and I have tons more knowledge than yourself.

Shut up. Get banned FFS.

Burfict also did poorly in the run game, hence the lowered score. Penalty really did hurt him though.

And bfine, don't start things: I haven't been home all day, and have just been posting from my phone and such, periodically throughout the day.

If I wasn't strapped for time this morning at 5:50 am before work, I would've posted 'em.

Lies! I gave seen the Hobbit and Harry Potter. You all live in delightful little shires and dance merrily, drunk on fruit cider.

All of that happened on three consecutive possession, a 10-minute fusillade of fail that turned a one-possession game into a blowout loss...

Which penalty? Helmet to helmet? or wasn't he offsides once as well?

BTW interesting that he got flagged for that but when Green took a shot straight to his face in the end zone from Jacksons helmet that was just a good play....

You seem to think you know a lot, but I've never seen you say anything of value. You spend a lot if time telling people how stupid they are but I've never once seen you display any kind of knowledge or football IQ or general intelligence whatsoever.

Is all your bluster just a cover up for your shortcomings? I don't expect you to answer this question. Not really your style.

PFF may not be the best, most accurate thing in the world. But I have to 1,000% agree and say they are spot on about Rey Maualuga ! And that makes me wonder if they aren't pretty close elsewhere. And moreover makes me wonder how our coaching staff can justify keeping him ?

I think I've seen my fill of Gresh. No consistency, no intensity, no brain. Time to move on. A TE doesn't need to be spectacular. He just needs to be reliable.

And Rey...He might as well replace 58 with bullseye because that's where every offense aims their attack, right at him. Our defense was good in spite of him.

I've been done with Gresh for awhile. Is it just me or does he always looke like he could give a **** to be out there playing? That little crawl crap he did yesterday was the most effort I've seen from him all year. For a yard from scrimmage? Why not put that effort into first down catches? Scared of getting popped? 6-5 260lbs really? Too little too late. GTFO
