Saying all sound is music still is WRONG!

And the universe is still in a constant state of expanding so those distant universe are only getting more distant. First Goal as a species is to get to mars lol Then we can work on getting out of our solar system.

Nifty stuff.
Universe is so vast, we will never see the vast majority of it. Like living on the beach and only seeing a single speck of sand. So much more stuff out there, have to wonder at what all is out there we haven't even thought of. Heck, we even have photosynthetic animals here on Earth, so the possibilities are endless. Not I believe there is a Lexx ship out there, but almost anything is possible I guess...

Awesome thread. Sorry it got polluted. Thinking of just how big the universe is is truly mind-boggling. Seriously, If you traveled at the speed of light in any direction, it would still take millions of human lifetimes to reach the outer reaches of the known universe. The light that you see from stars happened soooooo long ago. Like it was said earlier, I wish I could be around to see some of these mysteries unfold, but I strongly doubt it.

Computing power doubles roughly every 18 months. Some say that rate is slowing down now, but for the sake of argument, let's assume that same trend continues. That means that in roughly 50 years, we'll create AI, or something similar to it...something that has as much computing power as that of the human brain. Most of the time, people thinking of this process stop there. YAY!! AI!!! However, keep going another 18 months and you've got something twice as intelligent as a human...36 months later, you're 4x as intelligent...you can see where I'm going. As long as nothing bat-poop crazy happens in the next 100 years, this next century is going to be a period of amazing technological leaps and discoveries. Of course the super smart computers turning on us might throw a wrench into all of that. But assuming we can work together with them, or integrate them into ourselves, humanity could be racing off to the stars in a few hundred years. That's my take on it anyway. I hope my son is around to see some of it. I hope my grandchildren say "wow! If only granddaddy could have been around to see this!!!"

I just happened to find this in a manner totally unrelated to the article posted at the beginning of this thread. This video shows galaxies surrounding the Milky Way and their relative position to one another. There are only 400,000 galaxies in this video, but hundreds of billions in the observable universe!!!

I am too and i don't believe Earth is the center of the creation.
What more powerful creation than the Big Bang and billions of billions of galaxies ? And life is everywhere not just on that planet. Stop being self centered.
