Default Trade up to draft Manti Te'o?

Would you be in favor of the Bengals trading up to draft Te'o?

Haven't seen alot of him this year but saw nothing in last nights game that would make me think this is a good idea. He looked a little lost out there at times to be honest. Probably another Malaluga in the making.

Since midway through the season I've been calling him Rey 2.0.

Watching the game last night only confirmed this. Dude is tight in the hips, timid and takes bad angles. If they draft any MLB it will be Ogletree or Nico, Burfict will get the spot though.

The guy arm tackles everything. Lacey is an NFL RB and you saw what he did to him..........no chance.

ALA is the closest to an NFL team out there and Te'o did not look good. ND also has a good Dline to protect him.

If you go back and watch tape of Malaluga he benifited from being on a good D much like Te'o has.

I don't think they would have to trade up, I'm guessing he will be there when we pick.

Considering he's a top first-round selection, I would vote no as it would cost too much to trade up. IMO Ogletree would be better, but I think the Bengals are more inclined to move Burfict to MIKE or (sadly) re-sign Maualuga.

I've come to the realization that the most important thing for a linebacker to be able to do in the current NFL is cover and play in space.

I don't think Te'o has the speed to do either. He will be a GREAT 3-4 ILB. He will be Rey 2.0 in a 4-3.

We need a guy that can cover running backs out of the backfield and tight ends down the field as well as get sideline to sideline.

Heard a lot of comparisons of Teo to Rey and not just from Bengal fans. Not a good sign to me especially if you're contemplating using multiple picks to get him. We can get someone who provides the greater range we need in our LBs without having to move up.

As a general point I don't want us to move up at all in the 1st or 2nd. We have these 3 picks and a great opportunity to improve several areas of the team. Not a chance to pass up in a draft lacking elite talent.

We would have to give up too much to make that move. We have other needs we need to address with early picks.

If we trade up for anybody it better not be T'eo.

Manti Te'o is a fantastic football player and the second best LB coming out this year. Unfortunately for Te'o, last night might have been the worst football game he has ever played. Te'o may have lost some money last night. He missed 3 tackles in the first half alone (only missed two throughout the entire season). His defense got scorched and put on blast in the first drive alone. He will still get taken before we pick but there is no way I would move up and take him. Let the chips fall where they may and draft someone like Ogletree who is an athletic freak that will be there when we pick!

No way. After yesterday's performance, I wouldn't be surprised, if he fell quite a few spots on some draft boards, but not to our spot. Still not worth the picks we would have to give up.

The defining play last night for me was when he blasted through a gap on a 3rd and 3 and made contact with lacey in the backfield only to not wrap him up and lacey runs through him and get the first. I really like lacey, but you hit the guy square 3 yards behind the line and couldn't even slow him down enough to get some help.

Yes, last night destroyed his draft value. I wonder if olgetree will end up higher. Damn I love the drafts roller coster ride

Last night, after the game, I almost started a thread asking if Te'o would go undrafted now (not seriously, obviously, but was just pointing out that his stock was dropping like a fat girl in dodgeball).

Biggest game of his life and he disappears? No thanks.

We need guys that can perform on the big stage.

Don't go anywhere near Ray 2.0 and sure as hell don't trade up to get him.

Horrible timing for an idea, especially since it's tough for a rookie to step-in at MIKE and run a defense and especially when we don't know if Burfict is serious about liking playing on the outside (I think he is, but I obviously have no way of knowing for sure).

This is one of those ideas that would make me think that people in the front office are more brain damaged than I am, which I was declared brain dead in a coma, so that's a hell of an accomplishment.

I wouldn't even draft him if he was there in the 2nd round. And if anyone wants to trade up for him, you obviously haven't seen him play

24 hours ago, I would have said "maybe"

Now after last night's performance, we can possibly get him without having to trade up.

I'm a fan of Teo and he definately has a solid body of work but he really cost himself five spots in the draft lastnight. I never really believed he was in the top 10 skill wise and always thought 15 to 20. With that said,if we have a choice where we draft and hes sitting there you almost have to pull the trigger with what we currently have at the position. Alex Ogletree will be a better SAM or WLB in the NFL but Minter is a stud at the positon and worth cosidering preferrably at 2A.

Hopefully this team has learned it's lesson regarding the MIKE linebacker. In our scheme we need someone who can fly and cover. Every time we've been taken apart by an opposing offense the TE and RBs have scorched us on pass plays.

We need a guy that can make plays sideline to sideline. I'm not sure Burfict has the speed to be a true MIKE in a 4-3.

No. I agree with most on here, I felt like I was watching Rey last night.

The MIKE also needs to be able to step up toward the line and tackle the RB when he gets through the DL. Rey prefers to stand there and wait for the RB come to him before trying to make a move. By that point, the RB can just make a cut and gets right by him.
