Some great nuggets below from the article on Jay Gruden. It's nice to know that Gruden knows that he is facing some heat for the way his offense performed for the majority of the year. It's also nice that he acknowledges that the Bengals need a speed back (something that I have been wanting for years) and that he knows that Dalton needs work.
"I also know in this business your welcome mat doesn't last forever and I'm sure mine has probably been kicked off the doorstep. People probably want me out of here right now," Gruden said after his unit finished two slots lower than last year at No. 22. "That's just the way it is in this business." While Gruden loves what running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis has given the Bengals in short-yardage and red zone, he says they could use a "game-changer, speed" at the position and pointed to the draft. He also said Dalton needs to work on his deep ball because the lack of the big play has put too much pressure on the offense to grind out long drives.

Jay Gruden says he plans to be back in Cincinnati next season, even with the head coaching interviews.

We do need speed & a game changer at RB...I'd get Reggie Bush in free agency..or i would draft Andre Ellington...But i'd rather have Bush.

I remember earlier in the year when he was reflecting on a game and how he didn't utilize Green in the 1st half. He thought, "Self, that isn't very smart...". Then he did it AGAIN last weekend. Unforgiveable.

After the first or second run in the third quarter-where BJGE ripped off 12 yards-I don't remember him seeing the ball that often. It might have helped wear down the Texan defense if there were a few more runs scripted into the 3rd quarter. Sometimes, I don't understand professional coaches going away from that which has worked the last few weeks. Kubiak didn't.

Even though it doesn't count for a huge amount now, at least he is being open and honest. It's good to know that the organisations and coaches see what we see and are looking to change it, because in the past I am not sure it has been that way at all hah.

He knows but his actions sure didn't reflect. I can understand trying to be unpredictable. But if you're running the ball and they can't stop it, why on earth would you start passing?
-6 passing yards should get someone fired

Maybe he will take this and use it to get better...
Honestly having the same coordinators again can only help. I dont like everything Jay has done but hes still new at this level himself. Biggest problem.. Last year we couldnt get andy to hold on to the ball long enough for some plays to develop This year he seemed to have trouble with throwing it or seeing his open WR... OL play at the beginning and end of the year didnt help his confidence. But we should have reopened his quick strike passing attack.. If you Stay Gruden We need to average 30 points a game next year. You can do it.

I was hoping he would take a job somewhere else.
That said, the only coach I'm 100% sure I want gone is Paul Alexander. Despite giving up almost 50 sacks and having a poor run game for much of the season, it looks like PA will be back for his 20th season (19th as o-line coach).

Cook is not.. All our OL troubles were with cook and Faine at center... And the occansional Tackle getting beat (but those DE's get paid lots of money too)

I want a kid like Ray Rice or Lesean McCoy that can catch out of the backfield. That would open up the playbook dramatically. Lets get creative Jay.

I admit, I was one of many who wished Gruden would move onto a head coaching position, but after hearing him come out and put himself on blast, makes me feel a little better, and I mean "a little" better. I guess right now, I am on the fence about him staying or going. I still hated the way the playbook unfolded and how poorly our offense performed this season. I believe he needs to go through and recreate some plays and find ways to get our receivers open via creative plays and play-calling.
As of now, I could care less if he stays or goes.

Re: Jay Gruden Knows...
Get over yourself. He is working with a second year QB and lead receiver and rookies vying for the second receiver spot. He has done a very good job and he is not drawing interest because of his last name whether you care to admit it or not.

OMG!!! Jay is a hater! He dare to speaketh an uncomplimentary word in regards to Andy Dalton, blessed be his name. Come on guys, lets lambast him on the message boards and say he's not a real fan.

Yeah, as much as I would like to see a new OC, I might be willing to give Gruden another year. But, if there is not a major improvement next year, then it is definitely time to move on.

The play calling Saturday and the entire second half of the season was horrible, I blame it on Jay Gruden. He needs to take heat, they should have never been trying to throw the ball deep because Andy just isn't able to do it right now. That being said, if Jay Gruden leaves I think the offense will get worse.

He said Andy has things to work on. Yes he does. He did not say that Andy is the worst QB ever, that he has reached his ceiling, and that would should trade all of our picks so that we can draft Geno Smith. I would ask if you can see the difference but the answer makes itself brutally obvious.

Giovani Bernard is the guy I would love to add. Change of pace back and would be a great returner as well. So my wish list to fill the need would be 1. Bernard 2. Ellington 3. Bush
