I have noticed though that people with extremely high rep usually have accumulated it by spending time in the smack talk threads (where most of the reps are given out.)

I basically give out rep when someone tries to contribute something meaningful or makes a good point.

I have run into the spreading around issue but it never seemed to persist.

Heck, I might have been one of the first to ever rep you back in the days when you didn't have to be special to post in a P&R forum. I guess we are too much of noobies to get rep from the special people. Oh, wait, I've been around longer than most contributing to this thread? I guess I'm just too much of a <bleep>. LOL.

Seriously though, I've probably repped more than I've actually posted, usually in bursts where I rep a lot in one day, so I see the "spread it around" almost every time I try repping and give up after I see that message 2 or 3 times, lol. And I've never negged.

Rep only means something to the folks who truly make this message board a community. It shows that not just any schmuck can jump in here, and act like they own the place.

I saw this correctly answered on the first page. It makes you give rep to other people so you don't just rep the same guy over and over.

I love when BZ reps me, it's worth like 25 points, TBT's rep is worth a lot too, and 34 has repped me once I think, he gives a lot of points too. I don't mean to seem like I'm bragging about fake points, but when the old school guys rep you, it's awesome. I don't think I've ever been repped by Fred though, I feel I would remember it, like it was real special, like when I popped my cherry.
