yeah man, like the ravens took that 20 m hit for ngata, so they could have money for rice and then flacco.

In the draft we should draft Ogletree in the first round to fill our OLB need. Then we should draft either a guard or a center with our 1st second round pick to stack the line for Bush..I'm thinking we should take a a center & rely on Wharton to come back at guard so we would draft Barrett jones if he is available. then with the 2nd second round pick we take SS Dj Swearinger here or if he's projected third we would take CB Robert Alford here and Swearinger in the 3rd
if Johnson wants as much as Avril would want them, ya id take that upgrade

Why should we put more energy into contemplating free agency than Mike Brown does? OH SNAP!

On record many times that the Bengals front office wants to re-sign as many as their free-agents as they can, I suspect they won't be able to lock them all in. If we could retain Atkins, and M.Johnson and possibly use the tag/not use it on a kicker, I'd be already asking for a lot but...but I'm hopeful.

You don't need a elite player from free agency you draft those.

Hmm. Well there is a spending minimum this year in place for the first time, right?

You have to imagine that Michael Johnson and Andre Smith are going to come with a big price tag, so the question will be, do the Bengals pay them or pay some other FA a lot of money. It really is all about bang for your buck and while I like the job they've done this year, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them wasn't re-signed and was replaced in FA with another big cost player.

As for my fantasy scenario, we pick up Josh Cribbs, Freeney or Avril for DE, LeVitre at Guard, and Clady at Tackle if we don't pick up Andre's contract.

LOL---the fan base is so desperate to see Mike finally spend some money that they've become delusional..

Here's a breaking news report.

Mike will continue to be Mike.
The Bengals game plan is, and will be to save money.

Story over

How many flippin times does the same article have to get posted? Here is a thought if you find an article concerning the Bengals count on the fact it has been posted five times already. Then maybe check to make sure it.

Anyone thinking this team is going to go crazy on FAs outside of our own is probably in for a seriously long offseason. They will make a strong push to retain our key FAs and I would guess maybe look at 3 to 4 guys outside but those are not going to be what some consider high profile. I could see a Justin Durant or Brian Hartline. It probably will not be Mike Wallace or Reggie Bush and it shouldn't be.

We'll spend 90% on retaining/ extending our own and the other 10% on cast-offs like we do every year.

Most of these cast-offs have worked in our favor in recent years

Is there really anyone that addresses our problem areas to really get excited about at this point?

The Safety from the 49ers, Goldston I believe would fit here nicely.

Jarius Byrd and Patrick Chung would be nice additions as well.

Brian Hartline would be a nice addition to the WR corp and wouldn't cost $10 million per year.

...and for a bold move; bring in Dustin Keller, a very capable, reliable TE, and trade Gresham for a 3rd round pick. Or we could keep both for a year and cut Quinn.

It doesn't even have to be big spending. Just a frontline player or two added to the castoffs, retreads and first round busts that are normally signed.
