Superhero/Villain mantles

There are cases in comics where the mantle of one hero has been passed on to someone else, either through them retiring, or dying, or other reasons. There have been multiple Earth Green Lanterns(Hal Jordan & Jon Stewart just to name 2) multiple Robins(Richard Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damien Wayne), multiple Flashs(Barry Allen & Wally West just to name 2) even multiple Batmans(Bruce Wayne, RIchard Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake). Villains have this too as there have been multiple Venoms(Eddie Brock & Mac Gargan). Anyway the point of this thread is to ask which version of whatever Hero or Villain you prefer best.

I think the discussion of which Robin is the best is interesting. There have been 5. DlCK Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne. DlCK became Nightwing, Jason was murdered by Joker and then brought back by Ra's Al Ghul and became the Red Hood, Tim became Red Robin, Stephanie became the new Batgirl, and Damian is currently Robin. Jason is my personal favorite, after he's was rebooted he was a kid living on the streets that Bruce took in. He was violent, ill-tempered, and dangerous, different from DlCK in so many ways. He was murdered by Joker(and the fans of Batman comics), when he was brought back he took up the mantle of Red Hood(Joker's old mantle) and was an Anti-Hero/Villian, essentially he was Batman but wasn't afraid to kill. Jason killing people put him at odds with Bruce and the rest of the Bat-Family. I think Jason is the best because he isn't afraid to kill that makes him more dangerous than even Batman widely considered the best Hero in the DC Universe.

Heard on the radio that was the original purpose of Dachshunds. They were bred to be assistants to property caretakers, and would go to ground looking for animals inside their burrows. Once finding the animal inside, it would grab their snout and drag they out of the hole, the dog emerging backwards of course. There, the caretaker would be waiting to dispatch the varmint with a shovel.

And Yankee, I think everyone prefered Blaze to Ketch. All Ketch did was complain for 60 consecutive issues. That's why I finally stopped reading it. Well, that and girls. But mostly the whining.

You're pretty knowledgeable on Thor, is Beta Ray Bill like an alternate version of Thor or what? I don't know much about him other than he has a hammer similar to Mjolnir called Storm Breaker(I think)

He's the kind of the a mix of the top specimen of his species and wild animals from his home planet. The scientists made him into a "super being" to be their defender while their ship, Skuttlebutt, looked for a new home for their people. Skuttlebutt is kind of a giant version of the Battlestar Galactica, but Bill's entire population is within in suspended animation.


Long story short, Bill's people were investigating Earth as a possible home, he fought with Thor and ended up being able to lift his hammer. Odin eventually bestowed Bill with a hammer of his own, so he could better defend his own people and relinquish Mjolnir to Thor.
