bengals Re: Is it time to lose the stripes?

I think a new look would help with the new image of winners the Bengals are trying to build. I like the idea of a black helmet with the orange galloping tiger on the sides kind of like the Lions helmet. I would have an orange stripe down the middle like Denvers. I think orange pants with a simple wide black stripe down the sides like Pittsburghs would look good along with black jerseys. Usually simpler is a better look.

Unsaid rules of the boards:

1. No threads about uniforms
2. No threads about free agents
3. No negative threads
4. No april fools threads saying "we've made an offer to Mike Wallace"

I'm sure I'm leaving out a few hundred, but you get the gist.

No way. That tiger-striped helmet is the coolest looking piece of headgear in all of football, pro or college. You know why? There is no logo on it. While most teams have their mascot, like a silly cartoonish looking horseshoe or raven head on their helmets, the entire Cincinnati helmet -- the entire uniform, in fact -- is a Bengal tiger. That team comes out in orange and black stripes and no logo, decal, or stylized mascot is required because everyone knows it's the Cincinnati Bengals.

This is the image I like best. Orange helmet and it still has the stripes....sort of.
Dude.......that is horrible

I don't mind the threads about Free Agents, but when there's a thread about every freaking guy who get's cut, it's ridiculous.

No way, the stripes must stay. It's too unique to do away with. Love them or hate them, you have to agree that its unique.

There.

But anyway, the helmet is not changing for a looooooong time.
If the stripes must stay - I think that black helmet with orange stripes is a better look than the current helmet.

Nope. Don't EVER take the stripes away from the helmet...

Do whatever you want to the uniforms, I couldn't care less. But LEAVE... THE STRIPES... ON THE HELMET.... ALONE!!!

Why would you ever want to fix something that's clearly not broken?

I would love the black helmet/orange stripes as an alternate uni.

Kinda like the Steelers with their gold (pee yellow) helmets.

That helmet (with the 'B') is awful. I preferred to pretend that logo doesn't even exist, and then they went and put it smack-dab in the middle of the field

In descending order of preference, here is what our uniform helmets should be:
Our current one. Orange with black stripes.
A home/away alternate. Black with orange stripes. (Behind Marvin)
A throwback helmet. "Bengals" written in black on the side.
A white helmet with black stripes. Someone came up with mockups before and they didn't look bad.
Real throwback helmets. Like, to the days of the Massillon Tigers. We're talking leather, folks.
No helmets. This would eliminate helmet-to-helmet penalty controversies (a la Reggie Nelson)
That B logo.

That's so 2010. Some graphic design student in Nebraska, Kansas or Oklahoma redesigned all 32 teams for a project and leaked it somewhere. Then the WWL picked up on the rumor and it went viral. Nike has discredited the rumor (although they probably hired the student).

I'd like to keep the stripes on the helment, although (as many have said), not so bright on the orange-it blows up my HDTV.
