I honestly think he could get drafted and if that is the case, would the Bengals use a 5th or 6th round pick on the former LSU star? Or would they stay away from him unless he went undrafted? I think this is a case of whether Marvin would be comfortable with him. He is a playmaker and a versatile player so I would really like to get him in this draft as long as his problems seem to be more under control.

The Bengals should ABSOLUTELY draft him with a late round selection or sign him as an UDFA. Burfict is a good example of why we take chances with players like this. Also B Joiner. Our clubhouse chemistry can handle this just fine.He could and would become a steal, add CB depth right away and will change the game returning kicks and punts.

We should try to acquire another late pick for him.

Like = His talent and intensity.
Dislike = His drug abuse and off the field problems. Sounds like a ready made Bengal to me!!

He is no where near good enough to warrant a draft pick with his risk included.

If we used a draft pick on him we will be ridiculed throughout the footballing community. If another team does the same they will be lauded as geniuses. The sad fact of being a Bengal.

Honey Badger? Never really was that high of a prospect. Really isn't that good on defense. Very overrated. Head case. Would be a cancer to the locker room. Just give me Bacarri Rambo and move on.

I don't think Mathieu is that good to begin with. He would be a good KR/PR & would be depth at CB. I would use a 6th rounder on him.

He will be drafted. I dont think he will amount to anything in the NFL. Therefore, I hope the Bengals pass on him. ESPN did an interveiw before the BCS game and after the interview, the scouts had predicted him to go in the 4th round. I would say he goes anywhere between the 4th - 6th. He will end up being a KR / PR specialist and playing on special teams. Leave him alone and let another team risk it. When he fails and gets released, maybe Zimmer will take him under his wing and mold him into a player like he has done with so many others!
Pass!

If he has abused his body enough to be in the league only for a short time, he is not worth a high pick.
I think it is more a medical question than a talent or character. |

I would use a 5th maybe and a 6th for sure.
Would be good at returns to spell Pacman and lite Zim evaluate for a year

If still there at 6b, I draft him to return kicks....and hope he gets his head on straight.
Then keep my fingers crossed he doesn't get into trouble....but no long term deal at all. |

Marvin is a highly tenured coach now with back-to-back playoff appearances. His signing of Burfict proved to be genius (wow, hurts my mouth to say that) and how about scouting and picking Geno Atkins in round 4? If we're being mocked, then it's by old guys who can't get out of the '90s. Oh, and how about skipping consensus DeCastro for Zeitler? "Lazy" Michael Johnson? Jerome was our last brain-dead gamble, I think. |

I'm ok with a 5th or 6th on the kid. I think what he brings on special teams would be enough to warrant those picks as usually those guys don't make the team. Let Pacman mentor him and show him what not to do. Then the added bonus is we can cut Brandon tate and Pacman can play more CB. someday maybe he will be good enough to play nickle but until then he would be an electric returner.

Some recent news.
"LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu is undergoing regular drug testing from an anonymous but certified drug testing company in an effort to show NFL teams he's clean before the 2013 Draft. Mathieu also plans to attend the Senior Bowl to "mingle" with NFL people as he attempts to quell character concerns. Mathieu's representation promises that Tyrann will have had "32 tests" to show the NFL he's clean after alleged drug abuse at LSU. For now, Mathieu is training with former LSU teammate Patrick Peterson in Arizona. He's bulked up to 182 pounds after being listed at 175 at LSU. If Mathieu does enough to repair his image before the draft, he could be a value pick in the middle rounds." http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/...tyrann-mathieu A 182lbs DB who has to prove he is drug free will not be high on a lot of teams wish list. I'd take him in the 5th or 6th. I have a hard time believing he will fall that far though. I could see the Steelers or Ravens drafting him and everyone calling it a brilliant pick. They both need corners. |

I don't know. Repeated knuckleheads are kinda scary. Late in the draft, to take a flier on someone, maybe.

If he was there late I couldn't help my self but go for him. What have we really gotten out of are late round picks lately anyway. Tyrann Mathieu> Boom Herron, think of it that way. He strips the ball more than ive seen anyone and is a playmaker. What the hell why not. Just watch this and tell me you wouldn't give up Boom for this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KBPaoS6odk
