I was logged onto my works VPN and went to some inappropriate sites, forgetting I was still connected to VPN. I am at home. Will those sites show up on the companies web filter? I was able to access them so I am thinking maybe the web filter and recording of website traffic doesnt apply to VPN.

If you were still connected to the VPN, it will still show up..all they have to do now is request the laptop to look into what all has been looked at

It was on my home computer, not my work computer. I was connected to my home network with VPN connected as well. I have the vpn setup on my home computer. I dont think it will show up.

My thing is, wouldnt the site have been blocked if it went through the web filter? It was never blocked so thats why I think it didnt go through the filter.

If you were on your Works network Thru remote login onto your work PC any site that would be blocked on your work PC should be blocked when your using a remote login.


Now if your just connected to your works network from home. Your home PC might not have those sites blocked But i think they can see activity. Now just dont anything to **** them off and they wont use it to remove you.

It could be different where you work and how they have it set up.

Here when we log in from how we remote into our PC's here and are basically using our PC just from home. So all the network settings and securtiy stuff is in use.


If you were using their internet and they have it blocked that way and not something they updated to the computers then it should have blocked it. If your on your PC at home using your Internet connection and just happen to be logged into a network that allows you to communicate with work. As long as the Traffic (uploads/downloads of bytes ) werent travelling thru their VPN and just using your personal connection you should be fine.

Because if its just thru your internet connection all the cache is on your PC. then your fine.
And if you were remoted in it should have still been blocked.

At this point I would say Not to worry about it till monday. And they should be able to see you were on your home computer and dismiss it (worst case)

I used to attend this church and every once in awhile, I would go to their website to get information (service times, etc.). Imagine my surprise one Sunday when the pastor called me in to discuss my "pornography problem" (this was back in my younger days). They were monitoring IPs to see which websites people had visited before and after they came to the church's website.

Needless to say, I was not impressed. Especially since that information was shared with the entire congregation. I learned important lessons that day. Mainly, never underestimate who has the capability to watch and share your websurfing, even with privacy filters.

I know for a fact that I have lost clients because of political views I have posted here and on FaceBook. I don't mind because I had already assumed that cost for those opinions might exist.
