Jamie is a 4th year senior and three and a-half year starter on the Southern Miss defense. A versatile athlete who played “everything” in high school, he began his college career as a defensive back before moving to outside linebacker and, ultimately, ending up at the hybrid “Bandit” position in the Golden Eagles’ scheme.

He aligns as a DE in their standard 4-2-5 Even look, moves around in 2- and 3-point stances in their Nickel 3-3-5 package and stands up as a “box” linebacker in their Dime Odd 3-2-6 arrangement. He is capable of rushing or dropping and can play either on the left or right sides.

He has an angular, smooth-muscled build with long arms, athletic legs and a bubble. He has consistently gained weight during his career and should end up around 250 lbs as a pro outside linebacker. Athletically, he displays a base, balance and leverage.Could run 4.5's at the combine.

He has movement skills and gives glimpses of better-than-average burst. He is more
slippery than stout, but needs to get stronger in his upper body and more explosive
with his hands. Against the run, when he shoulders off a block, he will get washed
one way or the other. When he uses his hands, he displays the ability to shed and
then accelerate down the line-of-scrimmage. He makes a number of plays when
chasing from the backside of the formation. Jamie has a knack for avoiding
blockers in space and using his long arms to wrap tackle, even though he does not
have a ton of experience as an off-the-linedefender. Versus the pass, he is fluid in his
drops and under control in the hook and flat zones.

As a pass rusher, he has some bend to him, uses his hands well and tries to finish at
the QB.He is not overly sudden off the mark, but is active with his hands and takes advantage
of matchups with running backs and tight ends. Although he is notassigned to rush all the time,
he consistently threatens the pocket and does a good job of getting his hands up in disrupting the
quarterback’s vision and throwing lanes. He is a potential starter candidate as a flexible linebacker
who can play on all four downs in the future.

I don't think we can just cross a player off because a similar player that we drafted a couple of years ago was a bust because of a freak thing like migraines, though.

At this point, SAM is one of our biggest needs. Unfortunately, with Moch's migraine's continually landing him on IR, we can't count on him, so we need to address the position in FA or the draft this year. If Moch comes around, then we have some depth.

We shouldn't use Moch as an excuse to never draft a LB again.

Just like we shouldn't use Coles and Bryant as an excuse to never sign a WR.

Mistakes happen. If we'd used Peter Warrick as an excuse, we wouldn't have AJ Green now.

If Dalton averages over 30 passes per game in 2014, I win. If he averages less than 30, you win. Loser can't post in any Dalton threads for 1 year. You game?

I don't go onto threads insinuating someone is a liar or anything like that unlike you.

Freak Show lived up to his billing today at the combine:

Top 10 in 6 out of 7 drills/measurables

Top 5 in 5 out of 7 drills/measurables

Top 1 in 2 out of 7 drills/measurables.

Another guy that I would be happy about us drafting. I like him over Ogletree.

May have moved him out of reach of our 3rd.

Jamie Collins was sensational at the combine today. Set a record of 11' 7" in the long jump, over 41" in the High Jump and ran a 4.64 40 yard dash. He is now in the 2nd round most likely as he came in at 6'3 1/2" and 250 pounds.

Wooo now that is a combine performance. He out jumped AJ in the Vert by nearly half a foot.

We asked him about the time he fumbled without being hit and the time he threw an interception without being pressured and the other pick he threw -- under pressure but stupidly off his back foot toward double coverage. All of that happened on three consecutive possession, a 10-minute fusillade of fail that turned a one-possession game into a blowout loss...

MY favorite linebacker so far.Draft this guy in the second and be done with it.He will be a day one starter. He has balled out the best and will not be there in the 3rd.Draft him and our first of 2 running backs.Take the kid from mich state and then go get your speed back in the 4th or 5th.But seriouly take Jamie Collins top of the second if he is still there.Listen up, do not take Ogletree. You will be sorry. He is a converted safety and will not hold up against big lineman or tightends. He will get pushed around inthe Nfl.

Either this guy in the 3rd or Sean Porter out of Texas A&M in the 4th would make me quite happy.
