Could be a steal. It is risky, but the reward would be huge even if he came back at 85 or 90%.

I don't find this the least bit surprising in his case. If he'll be healthy and ready to start the season, all bets are off on how high he'll go.

I still think it would be a huge risk. I wouldn't risk anything higher than a 3rd personally. The guy is coming off of injury in back to back seasons. Not saying he will never be able to stay healthy but with his own personal track record and the Bengals team track record with RB injuries the risk outweighs the benefit to me.

Third round pick at best. Too much risk.

What round was Frank Gore picked after his major knee injury in the Championship against OSU?
This is where he will be drafted (same round). He was #65 of 3rd round. Edit; Wong guy, it was McGahee who was hurt. But, he was drafted in round 1 by the Bills and has gone on to have a good, but not great career.

Thought it was McGahee who got hurt in that game.

High risk high reward. He's the best back since Adrian Peterson if you ask me. Hell, I don't care where we draft him. Get this kid. Knee reconstructions have improved tenfold the past ten years. Take him.

Because the OP didn't:

Willis McGahee was in a similar situation but got hurt later in his last year at Miami. He was still aken round 1, 23rd overall. Lattimore could be a factor at the end of the first round. Unless bad news comes out before then regarding his knee.

I really didn't know what to think about Lattimore's performance this year before the injury.
He seemed to be awfully tentative. I think teams will take a long, hard look at his tape before he got hurt and see that even though he may be able to run off the field, he is still having some issues running on the field. It's going to take a little bit of time before he loses that fear. He looked like he was playing with it this year. I don't think he'll be drafted until the 3rd round at the earliest. |

I'd definitely take him in the 4th. Just as long as they don't intend on making him the starter his first season. I'm rotting for the guy honestly. Very humble guy and a hard worker. Hope he gets to play in the NFL.
Also, apparently the Bengals have talked to Lattimore: http://walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2013lattimore.php Q: Have you spoken with any NFL teams? A: "Yeah I've talked to a few: the Jaguars, Cincinnati, the Chiefs." Also, I got this link thanks to Burma, so props to him

Tell me about it. And Gore has come back from his share of injuries too.

The tricky thing about a situation is knowing when to take him if you want him. You never know who might put big value on him and take him right before you were about to.

I am a big fan of this kid. He is a very complete back and if not for this injury he is the top back drafted easily.
He is worth our 2b or 3rd round pick.

Anyone would have gotten hurt on the play that injured him this year. Not like he was just making a cut and it poped on him. Two large dudes taking your leg in separate directions isn't something most knees could withstand, brutal.

Fair enough. But did you think he looked as good last year as he did the previous season? A freak injury but a major nonetheless and coming off of those injuries two years in a row and already looking tentative after the first one combined with the other talent at RB available this season I would not spend a 2nd round pick on him.
