First off, let me say being a Clemson fan, I hate everything Gamecocks...however..
Will this kid recover like All Day Adrian Peterson? Or is he done for? Huge gamble for any team. But as bad as we need a running back, it's worth taking a look at least

FWIW, the Bengals have already talked to him.

He is an intriguing option, but with his medical history I think we will pass. Now if he is there in the 7th round than I can maybe see that

It's a BIG "if" ...but if he recovers like Adrian, he would be a beast. Pre-injury he was the best at his position

I think if he'd had the surgery yesterday, he wouldn't last til the 7th.

How do you feel about Ellington?

An explosive running back is one of the few pieces this team needs, but do we want to risk having a Chris Perry 2.0?
Especially with our caveman medical staff and facilities, I don't know that I'm ready to take that big of a risk.

If this team was in rebuilding mode, I'd give a mid round pick for him, but the thing is we are really close to where we want to be. We want to draft for immediate success and get as much of a "sure bet" as is possible out of the draft. The few variables the better. The kid could be big in the future though.

Was there a ligament still attached in his knee after the injury?
That was one of the most painful looking injuries I have seen in a while. The way his leg just flopped around was crazy.

Caveman medical staff ,I'm still laughing off that one! In all seriousness hopefully we can get him in the fourth or fifth round unless he blows up the combine.

Bengals equipment is state of the art as far as X-ray and MRI's go. I know, I have been a patient there. It is very well done! Frankly, this assessment is not fair! Ian p.s. I like Barner better: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings...2013&genpos=RB

This is a really good point on this topic. Thought I remembered him saying he thought his rehab would be helped at the NFL level. Maybe we can ask UC for some water treadmill time.

<Rolls Dice> 5&2 =7. He's going in the second round and I hope we get him.

I hope the kid bounces back and has a great career, just not with the Bengals 1st or 2nd round picks. 2 serious knee injuries in 2 years for a skinny legged RB is a big deal. I can't get past the image of the leg elbow enough to take him before the 4th.

With our luck, I just don't know if I trust a guy with two bad injuries in his past to play a full season/career under our staff/equipment without any problems, especially when a big play back is one of the last missing pieces for this team to be a Super Bowl contender.

I would even take him as high as the 3rd. Yeah there are a lot of injury concerns, but if this guy stays healthy he will be a monster.
Not to mention that Dr. Andrews said he is progressing ahead of schedule and that he will "shock the world".

Kenny Irons Part Deux?
He's too good to let slip away. Take the risk. I don't care if that means taking him in the first. I didn't count on this news.

From FP:
(Given Cincinnati's injury track record with rookie running backs in the last half of Anderson's tenure with Ki-Jana Carter, Chris Perry and Kenny Irons, don't look for Lattimore.) |
