Default Not another Hue thread but...

All this hope that Hue would take over for Gruden (this offseason) in the future. He's not even signed with the team. He's a coaching free agent and unless he re-signs with us will likely leave. Interesting as I thought his deal was longer than a year.

Soon to be a Cowboy

Maybe I missed the news that he wasn't apart of the staff when scanning through all the other Hue threads that where up. I just automatically assumed he was a member of the coaching staff unless he was signed as an OC somewhere.

The Cowboys have Bill Callahan as their OC, so he would only be an offensive assistant.

That is interesting. I viewed his acquisition as short-term mainly because I think he will get better opportunities elsewhere.

Didn't he interview for Panthers OC?

I am under the impression Hue is very good in working with players, and have often thought keeping him here in a variety of capacities would be a good thing. Just as long as he has no serious input on draft picks-for-player trades ....

Like I said earlier in the room. Hue was nothing more than a glorified ball boy here.
He was still collecting on his old contract from Oakland. This allowed him to basically work for peanuts and save face while holding on to an Nfl job. Otherwise he would have been selling steaks with Ickey.
And you guys wanted him as an OC.
He may go from asst. special teams coach to asst. WR coach in Dallas. A promotion.

And what's wrong with wanting him as an OC, genius?

Well considering the fact that he can't land a job on any team in the NFL as high as a position coach, for pennies on the dollar, I don't want him as an OC. But I know, MeChad spoke highly of him, so he must be the man.

Some of us are aware that the Raiders offense ranked 31st the year before he arrived as OC, but then finished in the top 10 both years he was there.

But, of course facts like that don't matter if you just want to hate on everything all the time.

I'm still hoping Oregon hires Jay....

I think he could do great things for the Ducks....

I just feel his offense isn't NFL caliber.

Oregon hired Mark Helfrich last Sunday. Sorry.

How am I hating?
The only reason he was on an NFL staff last season was due to the fact he was being paid by the Raiders. That's why he is no longer with the Bengals.
We also know that the two previous times he served as as NFL OC he was canned after only 1 season because his offenses got worse under him.
If he's such a great offensive mind like you and others believe, then why going on 2 seasons, after being fired for the 3rd time in 10 years in the NFL is he jobless?

The Redskins offense improved from 25th in scoring to 22nd when Hue was brought in as OC in '03. He lost his job because the head coach (Spurrier) got fired, not because the offense got worse.

In Atlanta he also lost his job because the head coach was replaced. The offense did struggle the one year he was there, but I have a suspicion it was because Joey Harrington was the starting QB.
