Yep. It's like Asoumouga. Nobody threw his way so he was shutdown. Now that people throw his way, he isn't. It was all myth and reputation.

He is already on a team that failed more for it's lack of offense more than anything.

He'd be wonderful to have, but our primary problem is our offense... and our defense is weakest at safety and linebacker.

And i would rather not pay 14 mil for a CB recovering from a knee problem.

Yes But you need really good corners to cover the WRs of other teams. And we play the NFC N lions and packers.

Very tempting, but I say no. The cost will be expensive even though we have a lot of cap room. We also have a lot of spending to do in house. Revis is also coming off injury and honestly, CB is the most inconsistent position there is. There are no "shutdown" corners in this league. While he may have had a few seasons where he was close to that status, its highly overrated. Plus we have good depth there already.

See I think you need above average CB's and a great pass rush. I'd love to add a LB that can pass rush.

I'd rather give $7-8m a year for like 6 years to Jairus Byrd than $14m a year for 5 years to Revis.... then that $7m difference can be used to get Bowe as well.

Byrd + Bowe > Revis

I think there are several hitting the market.. And this Joiner kid some were high on last year..

If we could get moch on the field it could improve an already dangerous Defense..

we need LBers that can and will cover TE's

No. Reggie Nelson plays both FS and SS since we've rolled out garbage next to him. If we get Byrd, Nelson could just permanently move to SS.

Nelson lines up as a SS most of the time anyways. The team doesn't have a set safety position, and never will, so I would wonder how they'd have Byrd when he rolls up.

There's no set safety positions for the Bengals defense.. it's just Safety #1 and #2. Not to mention, if you think that Byrd/Nelson would be worse than Nelson/Clements or Nelson/Crocker, who the Bengals managed a 6th ranked defense with, you're crazy. Huge upgrade in player. They both also have two seasons of 80+ tackles in the last 3 years, which a DB can't get if they're a poor run defender.

Besides, Nelson only makes like $4m a year, so it'd be more like an $11-12m safety group, which while not a huge difference, is certainly better than the $14m you said.... and they'd have combined for 43 turnovers the last 4 seasons. Wow.

I'd also like to see Marshawn Lynch, Vernon Davis, and Victor Cruz in stripes as well FWIW...

Moch was 270 and looking to play DE.

Covering the TE is VERY important. I think we need a lighter guy to do that.
