Why do they still play this?
The only reason I might watch, would be, to see if the Bengals selected come out injury free. I can't see how NFL fans are a fan of this game. Why put your star players in a position to be injured? For what? |

How many significant injuries have there been in the pro bowl in the past 10 years anyways?

No one is getting hurt. They all play at half speed.

This is pretty much why they don't go all out or anywhere close to it. I can understand not going all out due to the violence of the sport and really don't blame them but it is pretty much unbearable to watch.

Seriously I don't know why they just don't go to flag football for this. Play in helmets and shorts throw some flags on and have fun.

I may be alone on this one, but I actually like the Pro-bowl. No, it is not a "real" football game, but I do not expect that. It is basically a glorified flag football game which gives us a chance to catch up with some of the best players in the league and to feel a little team pride when we see those orange and black helmets out there among the best.

I think his name was Robert Stevens. he was from georgia. They were playing in the sand on the beach and he injured his knee so badly that they actually thought he might lose his lower leg. he ruptured a blood vessel or something bizarre like that.

I actually think they may do away completely with the Pro Bowl. Last edited by fredtoast; 01-23-2013 at 09:48 AM. |

Loved seeing that striped helmet out there. Now I picture our best player pulling up on a route, and limping off the field. For what? |

I don't think they should play the game. It is only a way for income to be generated that puts some of the best players in the league at risk of injury for nothing.

The game is awful if you are watching it, but for the players it means something.
It usually helps them when it comes to contract negotiation.....not to mention the bonus check they get. It isn't a real game, people should stop expecting to see one. |

Like allstar game determing the home team for the world series. etc. But sense football Superbowl is played a nuteral site that doesnt work. Unless they stoped doing this nuteural site crap and just let the team from the winning confrence of the Pro Bowl host the superbowl. (maybe 1 year off as anyone playing in the probowl wont be in the superbowl) or have the probowl after the superbowl again.

Re: Bengals in the Pro Bowl
I think they should go back to the super bowl winners playing the college all stars.

I think the winning team might get more money than the losing team. Seems like that's an incentive.

Maybe they should make it. $100,000 to the winners and $1,000 to the losers.

How about this:
Name the pro bowl players, pay them all a $40,000 bonus, and let them go to Hawaii with their families. Put them in uniform, let them jog onto the field, throw or catch a pass, pop a tackling dummy or something like that, while you introduce them. Show a two or three minute highlight film of each player, and that means the entire roster, on TV and the big screens in the stadium. Get some of the best analysts to describe the plays and what makes that play so great. End up with them all on the field, waving at the fans, maybe interacting with them in some way. Make it all a big love fest. The result: viewers get to see a bunch of great football plays, made by their own players and players they don't get to see too much. Players still get the benefit of being named to the pro bowl. The NFLPA will like it better than cancellation. Fans get to see an interesting football show to fill in the dreary week waiting for the Super Bowl. Nobody is risking injury. |

I wish they would bring back Skills position contests like we used to see. The whole QB accuracy thing, and see who's the fastest player, all those competition things were fun to watch and even fun for the players.
I wish they would bring that stuff back. Also, I like the Pro Bowl voting, I think it has A LOT to do with Hall of Fame type stuff, but not a fan of the game. Nor is anyone, really. But I think the NFL is trying to get rid of it by toning it down and whatnot. Bring back the skills competition stuff, and I think A LOT more people would watch it. Well, watch the skills competition more than the actual game I should say
