He probably averaged 315 carries a season to get there. His YPC was near the bottom of starting running backs, he offered virtually nothing in the pass game, he had no big play ability, and he had problems holding on to the ball. The guy was an average back.

Yet he was the only guy who came to play in our playoff game against the Jets. 169 yards and a TD on 21 carries.

The 3 consecutive years Ced rushed for over 1,000 yards here only 4 other RBs in the NFL were able to do the same and their names are:

Ray Rice
Steven Jackson
Chris Johnson
MoJo Drew

But folks will tell you it is "no big feat" or "Featured RBs should run for 1000 yards" or maybe even "mediocre at best"

Buffalo didn't know how to use him (and certainly expected much more out of a #11 Overall draft pick), and the Jets D ****** so bad last year that 3rd and long situations simply didn't happen. If we expect him to be one of our starting LBs, then we're gonna be terribly disappointed. However, if we accept him for what he is (a 3rd down sack/strip specialist), there's reason to believe that the 24 year old will thrive for us in this role.

Rivers was never the same after being blindsided by Hines Ward,. Rey was a 2nd rounder never clicked and Taylor mays was essentially a 7th rounder to us. i wouldnt mind if we cut mays. he will probably come to NE and be a star. you can go ahead and pick and choose players all you want but the fact is, is that Zim has been successful here at getting the most out of players.. Geno Atkins anyone?

Green Ellis is only one I can think of right now.

I saw major improvement with Sanu as the year went on and Gruden has made a rookie and second year QB look good for a young QB. Let's see if he can take the offense to the next level in 2013. Let's see if Mike Brown gives him more potential weapons to do so before we throw him under the bus..

I still remember checking the Jags board after that trade and they were thrilled to get David Jones and even more excited to get rid of their "bust".

I hope Maybin can produce, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a camp causality though

He didn't stay healthy, not to mention he had 4 consecutive 1,200+ yard 10 TD seasons before he got injured. Oh and he was only 9 yards shy of owing the record for most rushing yards in a season.

And then got 9 yards shy of the NFL rushing record the next year after an ACL tear. Lets not be comparing Benson's accomplishments against Peterson's. That's when it just starts getting ridiculous.

The point is, in Benson's 4 years in Cincinnati, he averaged 3.77ypc. Nothing else matters. That's absolutely mediocre at best.

Stevan Ridley had 1263 yards in 2012... CJ Spiller had 1244 yards in 2012... does that mean that Stevan Ridley is more impressive than CJ Spiller? Of course not, because while Ridley had a decent 4.4ypc, Spiller had an immense 6.0ypc. That means it took Ridley 83 more carries to get 19 more yards rushing.

Foster got 1400+ yards, but it was at 4.1ypc and 351 carries. It's not as impressive or productive if you get a high yardage total just by amassing a ton of carries.

Season total yards don't matter. It's about ypc, because most RBs if given the opportunity to run it 300 times like Benson did, will get 1,000+ yards. You can get 1,000 yards on 3.3ypc with 300 carries. It's not an impressive feat.. if you ask why isn't it done more often then? Because most teams aren't idiotic enough to run it off right tackle for 3-4 yards on 1st and 2nd down, 300 times a season.... over and over and over. Bob Bratkowski's offense was.

But he did not rush for 3 consective 1000 yard season during the timeframe as Ced did during his tenure here.

I agree AP is a beast. Don't know what that has to do with what Ced did for us while he was here.
