Default How will Maybin effect the draft?

It will give us the luxury to not draft a SAM.
He has been nconsistent in his 4 years, but Zim can smooth him out.

1. Alec Ogletree - LB - UGA

With some added weight, this guy can play inside. And if we don't want him there, he
can play WILL if Howard isn't 100%. Basically, what better way to solidify our LB's
than with a LB who can plug holes, cover TE's and RB's out of the backfield who
happens to come from UGA?

2a. Justin Hunter - WR - TENN

I'm really high on this kid. He's got the body of A.J. with only 4.5 speed. Darn.
Catches with his hands consistenly, not much of a body catcher. Let him smooth
out his route running and in a year we have 2 A.J.'s across from each other.

2b. Baccari Rambo - SS - UGA

Not sure if he'll make it to us in the 3rd. A true ballhawk with the ability to play either
safety position. Can also cover TE's.

3. Joesph Randle - RB - OKST

I had us getting Bernard at 2a for a while. But I like us getting Randle for 2 reasons:
1- better open field break away speed than Bernard (combine can settle that debate)
2- Can become 3 down back in a year or two with all around ability.

4. Ricky Wagner - OT - WIS

I feel we need more outside line depth than interior. Roland needs the boot, Whit's
aging, and Andre met iron bars. Even with two above average OT's, depth is needed.

5. Sanders Commings - CB - UGA

I think next year we need to pull the trigger on a top CB, not this year. But can never
have enough.

6a. Michael Williams - TE - ALA

3 TE set. 1 reciever, 1 reciever/blocker, 1 blocker. Goal line blocker.

6b. Chris Thompson - RB/KR - FSU

Speedy open field little squrriel. hard to tackle, might run a 4.2

Won't make another mock until after combine.

Maybin will have no effect on how they approach the draft.

I don't mind the "little risk high reward" pickup....but it won't have any effect on the draft.

It's like saying lets sign Jamarcus Russell and be set at QB for a decade.

So no one here thinks Maybin has or will fill a need at SAM?

He is slower than Maualuga.

He fills a need as camp fodder or bench warmer.

It would keep us from burning a late round pick on a backup linebacker. That's about it.

Exactly. Maybin has done absolutely nothing for us to consider him anything kind of answer. As of right now, his signing is equivalent to the signing of Derrick Harvey.

Maybe does nothing to help us fill the need for a quality run-stopping SAM, unless we decide to go with Rey M. as a two down LB, and bring Maybin in on 3rd and long.

I'm not saying that's a good idea, but a possibility.

I still think we have to look for a 3 down SAM backer and a WILL, if the plan is to move Burfict to the middle (a caveat we're hearing alot these days).

Maybin is an edge rusher. That's all he's been in his career so far. I don't see that changing, but he could surprise me.

I like all those players except Chris Thompson only because of his injury history.

ACL tear this season.

Broken back last season.

Little to no effect. But anyway.

I do like your mock draft. I'm not very high on Randle, however, but everything else I do rather like. So good job overall on the mock

For people saying he will have no effect.... lol...

This is Mike Brown we are talking about... I can assure you it means we will not take a player to fill the SAM position unless every other player there is a major reach in round 1.

Bring on Patterson!

The Maybin signing will not change our draft strategy because we have 3 starting linebackers who are fa's and Howard also is coming off an injury.I also say Ogletree is big enough to play middle.

Baccari Rambo isn't a SS and he lacks tackling skills. Joseph Randle is Chris Perry 2.0.

Chris Perry 2.0 would be a great addition to this team - provided that Chris Perry 2.0 is more durable than Chris Perry.

Probably means we will not attempt to draft a crappy LB.
