Rey isn't going to sign as a backup here. Some team will have him start just like Livings did.

He is not fast. He only ran a 4.8 at the combine (at 250 lbs). But he is explosive. he had a 38 inch vertical leap and broad jumped over 10 feet.

He ran a 4.6 at his Penn State Pro Day, but I don't trust Pro day numbers. Some of them run on faster tracks than at the combine.

So "breathtaking speed" is a bit of an overstatement I guess.

In that same article where Hob said he would only be a pass rusher, he goes on to talk about playing the run and covering too, so who knows what the plan is. To this point in his career, he's never been an every down LB, has he?

That sums it up......this is a low risk move.....If they keep him, fine..... If they cut him, fine.....He is not a high paid free agent signing.....If he doesn't work out, it's no real money or cap expense to cut him....So also theres no reason not to try him....." The move poses little risk for the Bengals " ......That is good considering we are indeed talking about a guy that was cut by the Bills and the Jets in the last two years. That doesn't exactly want you to attach Superstar to his name over the signing.

More to the point is the Bengals now have 10 linebackers......Maualuga, Howard, Lawson and Skuta are free agents.......Do not expect all 10 of these guys on the team when the Bengals camp starts in July. .....That said, linebacker is not a strong area and look for other attempts or moves to improve, either in free agency or the draft. ...the good thing is that this particular move poses little financial risk. If he makes it as a bench player, it's a low risk, low money move that worked out.

Really a lot of moves me make ar e called low risk because they are low dollar 1 year deals. The thing is this isn't a guy like Burfict with no history in the NFL..this is a bust like Harvey.

These signings wouldn't be so bad if we then brought in a premier free agent every now and then. But instead we get value guys and busts.

Hobson goes on to say he'll really just be rushing the passer.

If he's just a situational guy, then we still need another SAM.

I guess this is the latest step in Marvin's never ending search for Boulware, part deux.

With as young as he is, if they can turn him around, maybe you got something.

I think this guy,MAYBIN,could very well be a big-time force for our defense.Zim and marvin like this guy, i like his size and speed and motor,and he has NEVER BEEN with a team that is a playoff team.Folks, he is only 24 years old and just been in nfl since 09.He is just learning the ropes and has alot of upside.I am very happy he is here to compete for a job, and old mavin and zim will get his talents to shine.

Livings is actually pretty decent at pass protection. Probably better than Boling. Livings is terrible at run blocking.

Wrong. Not sure what he actually weighs currently, but Marvin already stated Moch was practicing exclusively at LB last season after he came back from his suspension.

Boling is better than Livings in every way. Although Livings wasn't as bad at pass blocking as most on here believed. He was basically worthless in run blocking.

I'd say Livings is better in pass protection by a recent margin. Bolinh will hopefully keep improving.

Our offensive line 2 years ago was much better overall at pass protection.
