I think it's just a matter of trying to find gold under a rock and probably doesn't change much.

This signing is OK until we get to free agency and resign Maualuga and don't add any other quality backers.

I'm not quite sure what 'fire agency' is, but yea I don't agree w/ resigning Rey as more than a backup/special teams............Rey1 is still > Rey2

Rey isn't going to sign as a backup here. Some team will have him start just like Livings did. |

Really? No offense, but I find that hard to believe.

He ran a 4.6 at his Penn State Pro Day, but I don't trust Pro day numbers. Some of them run on faster tracks than at the combine. |

In that same article where Hob said he would only be a pass rusher, he goes on to talk about playing the run and covering too, so who knows what the plan is. To this point in his career, he's never been an every down LB, has he?

Jay Morrison, Staff Writer for Cox Inc, Cincinnati : " The move poses little risk for the Bengals.....
That sums it up......this is a low risk move.....If they keep him, fine..... If they cut him, fine.....He is not a high paid free agent signing.....If he doesn't work out, it's no real money or cap expense to cut him....So also theres no reason not to try him....." The move poses little risk for the Bengals " ......That is good considering we are indeed talking about a guy that was cut by the Bills and the Jets in the last two years. That doesn't exactly want you to attach Superstar to his name over the signing. More to the point is the Bengals now have 10 linebackers......Maualuga, Howard, Lawson and Skuta are free agents.......Do not expect all 10 of these guys on the team when the Bengals camp starts in July. .....That said, linebacker is not a strong area and look for other attempts or moves to improve, either in free agency or the draft. ...the good thing is that this particular move poses little financial risk. If he makes it as a bench player, it's a low risk, low money move that worked out.

So if he makes it , fine......if he doesn't make it, fine......The guy has been cut by Bills and Jets in the last two years, so any attachment of the word Superstar to his name may be over the top by fans. This now gives the Bengals 10 linebackers....Do not look for all 10 to still be here in Julys training camp. ....Maualuga, Howard, Lawson and Skuta are all free agents......Considering linebacker could use improvement, look for changes and maybe more moves via free agency or the draft. This move is worth a try because it is a low money, low risk signing.....if it doesn't work out, no big loss.....if it does, it is a steal .....If he ends up a bench player, it's a good move considering it's a low risk move. ( If it looks like I posted twice....two seperate thread topics were just combinbed into one, ' Maybin Tweet ' and ' Maybin Superstar '. )

These signings wouldn't be so bad if we then brought in a premier free agent every now and then. But instead we get value guys and busts. |

And Tony Romo paid for the error of the Cowboys' ways too, didn't he?

Livings is actually pretty decent at pass protection. Probably better than Boling. Livings is terrible at run blocking. |

Moch is still young, i would not give up on him yet. More like Lawson is gone and i approve.

Much is young...he's a 270 lb DE now though.
Isn't Maybin a college DE? |

Wrong. Not sure what he actually weighs currently, but Marvin already stated Moch was practicing exclusively at LB last season after he came back from his suspension.

Boling is better than Livings in every way. Although Livings wasn't as bad at pass blocking as most on here believed. He was basically worthless in run blocking.

I think Maualuga could succeed as the #2 ILB in a 3-4
