Just because you run the pistol offense doesn't mean that you still can utilize a "standard Offense" it's another formation just as is the shotgun formation it's all about mismatches and keeping the defense off balance

What usually happens with a fad offense is that defenses figure them out but elements of those fads stay behind as more tools in the chest.

I don't envision teams lining up to run their QB's all over the place, but there will be some concepts or formations that will be used.

Yeah, Dalton is familiar and comfortable in the shotgun. That's why Gruden doesn't use it very much.
